Lighthearted and unserious, perfect slightly spicy weekend read. A couple of critiques, I felt like some of the scenes were rushed and that Violet reached a very different conclusion than the reader in the moment. I also would have liked a less cheesy ending but it fits with the general theme!

I disliked the MMC in this so much. He wasn’t portrayed as a bad guy, just a misguided one, but he was just as bad if not worse than the actual villain imo. The FMC felt a bit bland and both of them were kind of dumb? The FMCS brother was my favorite character in this so I’ll likely end up picking up the next one in this series eventually since it focuses on him.

This is the second in the series and very similar. The story continues with the youngest sister and her father's plans to arrange marriage for her as well. If explicit sex scenes are not your thing then you'd be wise to skip over some pages in this series, but the strong female character portrayal in the given time period is a bonus.

This book was an absolute JOY of a historical romance. I absolutely loved Violet and Christian and their story. Violet is young, but she's strong and knows her own mind and won't let any man change that. Christian is so sweet and caring but has been too hurt to really believe in himself. They brought the best out in each other even while losing their way for a little bit. I also loved how Violet used her writing to work through her feelings and how the snippets from here book were used at the beginning of each chapter. This was just such a good book and I can't wait for the next one!

I’m sad to say I closed this book disappointed. I loved St. George’s first installment in the series, The Heiress Gets a Duke, but the sequel didn’t measure up.

I found myself less interested in this couple, often skipping past entire scenes when momentum slowed to a halt.

Additionally, this book felt more standard than the first; I feel I have read this plot 10 times before, and I was presented with far too little to excite me about this particular couple.

As I said before, I loved St. George’s previous book, but here I think she sold herself short.
