- 2.5 stars! Goodreads needs to add the half star feature!

- In the copy of the book I read, the font on every other page was terrible. The lines are fat and it makes it harder to read.

- The story isn't so much a Beauty and Beast re-telling as much as a Dances with Wolves story. To be honest...it is Dances with Wolves but the roles are switched. The man is an Indian and the woman is English. There wasn't even a beast...he was an Indian. I know the white people viewed them as beasts, but I prefer re-tellings of this story to have some sort of deformed/cursed person.

- I liked the little fairy people. They added some light fun to a more serious/somber story.

- Isabella is a really strong female protagonist. I really liked how she was a fighter as well as a lady.

- The story has been done SOOOOO much that I just don't appreciate it anymore. I understand the whole moral of the thing, but I'm getting tired of this particular plot. It isn't original.

- I thought the way the author used magic in the story was really well done. It was a little mysterious and had the Indian vibe, but it wasn't over the top.

Incredible. This story was amazing. I was a little worried about it at first as the racism really is rampant with this one but by the end I was totally rooting for the characters. This book is graphic, if talk of|| murder an scalping will bother|| this may not be the book for you. I liked the way he protected her even though he knew he should hate her. ||The way their hearts joined together to make magic was beautiful, I was so sad when they burned her half of his spirit, it did make the whole him dying when she left thing make more sense though||. Though this was a very unique take on beauty and the beast it did have many similarities with the original.

I read this without knowing what fairy tale it was! I first thought it could be a gender reversal of Pocahontas, but nope! I'll leave it as a surprise for you; the author doesn't mention it until the story is completed. An interesting read, though the main heroine gets a bit whiny.

This one started off great, but I didn't care for the ending. I felt like since the book was dealing with the Native American/White man conflict in early America, the ending was an easy way out of a very complicated issue.

Generally Beauty and the Beast retellings are some of my favorite, but I'm just not a fan of the Native American = beast story. The writing was good but not enough to counterbalance the moral issues.

This is one of my favourite books in the whole ‘Once Upon a Time is Timeless’ series. I love the writing; it is so descriptive that it draws a picture in your mind. I swear, instead of reading a book it felt like I was watching a movie. The characters are wonderful, and even though it is a short story, we get to discover them.

I stated above that the writing is descriptive, but there are some parts that I wish weren’t: the battle scenes. I am a very flaky person when it comes to seeing blood. And apparently when it comes to reading about it. The battles are gory, describing the process of scalping and all its glory.

It wasn't as I expected from the Once Upon a Time series, and it could have been better. The storyline was very nice, and i like the attraction between Mahwah and the Indian guy (i don't know how to spell his name). I also like that they all moved to the Land Beyond and became Spirit People.

Spirited is a beautiful retelling of beauty and the beast with a historical background. As a lover of Beauty and the Beast, I loved it. I thought the story fit the time period. It did not play down the truth of how the British and French treated the Native Americans. Isabella is traveling with her father and a group of British soldiers to Fort William Henry. Along the way, they are attacked by a bear and by Indian warriors. At some point in the story, I wanted to slap Isabella up side the head for how she acted. All in all, it is a book I'll recommend to lovers of Beauty and the Beast.

I actually really liked seeing beauty and the beast redone with a native american twist. It was interesting to see the different culture of people and how this story line could have played into their myths.

While there were points where were I just wanted to strangle everyone because no one believed any good of the others, I did enjoy how things were handled.
