I had mixed feelings about this book. It started out in such an interesting way. Seriously! To be tied up to a bed with your ex in the room for an indeterminate amount of time. That was creative, for want of a better word.

The chemistry and intensity alone between this pair scorched my e-reader. But even with all of that, I can honestly say that this couple was kind of annoying. The up and down and back and forth was brutal. I wanted to hit them both over the head with a dose of oh-grow-up. They did not seem strong at all...more like co- dependent and wishy washy.

This story definitely had some crazy-insane parts, but it lacked maturity, heart (versus insta-love), and authenticity.

Despite what I have shared, I will say that this book has the potential to be something more. There is certainly something there to work with. It, in my opinion, needs more substance instead of heat. There needs to be more conviction. It needs more convincing commitment from the characters versus experimental acts and dirty language.

Thanks netgalley for a free book to read and review. First of all the plot was a cute idea, but the relationship between Mason and Kelly just didn't fit. I enjoyed the Halloween scene but her failure to commit, and his only wanting to be dominant during sex just didn't sit well with me. I still think all he had to do was introduce her slowly to it. I'm not believing that if she was brought up that way then she would change her mind that quick. Still I enjoyed the book, and gave it three stars.

There were so many problems with this story for me.

First off, the whole idea of the story is a bit far fetched. Who in their right mind would have a girl strapped to a bed in a charity haunted house? And who would agree to be strapped to said bed with their ex, when the mere thought was against values that made the relationship break up to begin with?

Second, I just couldn't connect with the heroine because she seemed so wishy washy. She liked it and wanted it, but she thought that she shouldn't. While something like this topic/conflict might be able to work in a longer story, it played out terribly in this novella. The length of with story and how quickly the heroine changed her mind drove me crazy.

Third, it took about half the book to even get into any of the steamy scenes, and by that point I was already over the heroine and her personal issues with "kinky sex". I choose to read kinky novellas for the quick and dirty erotic scenes, unfortunately this book failed that on so many levels.
