Freak!! I have no idea why it’s taken me so long to read one of Jess Mastorakos’s books! This one was amazing and I have a feeling they are all going to be just as good. Seriously! I was amazed at how good it was and surprised by how much I liked it!

The writing style was great and Jess’s decision to add chat conversations between BookishDreamer and StarkRavingMad made the whole book just fun. I found myself smiling at their chat threads and even got giddy over them.

This was one of Jess’ best books so far! I loved the story. A dating app where you don’t know what the other person looks like until talk for a while? How cute! You get to know the person without judging them how they look. It turned out cute how Claire found out that Mateo was the one she was talking to.

“The guy was the epitome of tall, dark, and handsome, but with an added nerdy vibe that was basically adorable. Adorkable, even.”

Book 2 of the First Comes Love series! Claire and Mateo are best friends of Amy and Dex from Book 1, and have been secretly attracted to each other. Claire has decided to ignore her crush on Mateo since he’s moving to Germany in six months and doesn’t want to start something that wouldn’t be permanent.

Claire and Mateo have been separately asked to test out the new anonymous dating app to make sure that it’s user friendly and that there aren’t any bugs. Of course they both agree without the intention of falling for someone. Not knowing that they’re actually speaking to each other, they both start to fall for one another. What will happen when they find out their true identities? Will the spark still be there when they realized that the person that they’re in love with has been standing in front of them this whole time?

A Blind Date for the Marine by Jess Mastorakos is a sweet military romance that takes place in Carlsbad California. Claire is an administrative assistant who lives above a bookstore where she works weekends. Mateo works IT for the Marines Claire does not particularly like the military lifestyle of moving around and avoids Mateo when they meet through mutual friends.

They both agree to sign up for a new blind dating app when asked by their mutual friends to “test it for flaws.” . In the app you do not see a picture of anyone you're interested in until you've chatted on the app with them for 30 days. Claire and Mateo have a lot to talk about in the app.

This wonderful romance has witty dialogue, a creative plot, and great chemistry. The author has the gift of making all characters, including secondary ones people you absolutely want to meet. I loved Mateo's family, Amy, Dex and the guys from game night. The story reminded me of a combination of You've Got Mail and Sabrina. It was a great rom-com. I highly recommend this story.

I was given a copy by the author and not required to write a positive review.

I have loved getting to read Jess Mastorakos’ books! They are just so romantic and swoony.

A Blind Date for the Marine was such a sweet nod to You’ve Got Mail with a fun online dating twist.

I loved that the characters were book nerds. It made my book-loving heart swoon. I also love that this series steps out of the stereotypes of who marines are.

Claire felt so real to me. She loved Mateo, but fear of the military lifestyle really made her hesitant. I can’t begin to imagine that fear and I’m so thankful for all of the families who sacrifice for the rest of the country.

Overall, I love Jess’ military books and will definitely keep reading them.

My gosh, I love this book. It gave me all the same feels I get when I watch Hallmark movies, while still being distinctly different from one. It was great. I was probably grinning like an idiot the whole time I was reading. My family probably thought I was crazy.
I liked the characters and found them to be really relatable. The main protagonists are a marine and a romance author. There were a lot of references to books and talking about books, which I loved.
Was the plot predictable? Honestly, yes, it was, but I didn't care because I was so enchanted by the story. I read it quickly, it was able to keep my attention for long periods of time.
If I had to find a complaint about the book, it would be that a few times there were moments where the characters' voices sounded the same. If I missed at the beginning of the chapter who was narrating, there was one or two times I had to go back to see. Usually, and for most of this book there was, there is a clear distinction between how they think and narrate their part of the story. This just got a little mixed up once or twice and lost its clarity. It's such a minor thing, most people probably wouldn't even notice it.
I loved the book so much that now I can't wait for the next book in the series to come out, plus I need to go back and read the first one. They are all stand-alone's, but the characters overlap, so now I have to read them all. I'm definitely a fan of this writer.

I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily left this review.
