I loved this story and the way it was written. So many beautifully placed red herrings that you didn't even notice were swimming around the story. I loved using the perspective of 'bystanders' overhearing conversations of the main characters for exposition and to move the story along.
Probably my favorite of all Moriarty books I've read.

This novel has over 10k ratings so I genuinely wonder what I have to offer from the peanut gallery —but— I will say this: I will never pass up a Liane Moriarty novel. Whether it’s in the airport bookstore or a charity shop, any and every Moriarty title will have a home on my shelves.
5⭐️s for:
- epic characters from backstory to growth
- dual timelines. I’m forever a sucker for nonlinear timelines but this was a master class on unraveling stories in both
- ridiculously believable yet quirky characters
- internal monologues so creative that I‘d take over the actual dialogue
- use of the contemporary in a way that felt like relevant side notes without being beaten over the head by “the pandemic”
- fantastically placed Aussie tidbits without being OTT

One thing about Miss Lianne is she knows how to write the unexpected twist. But it was still too slow moving of a book for me and the pandemic was a jump scare. Mid read for me.
I know it's not just about tennis but... they really make it a lot about tennis and I can't relate to that type of passion.

Annoying characters and writing; did not care
I enjoyed this book until the last 10%. Quite an anticlimactic ending which was disappointing.
