An easy read and similar to other books by the author. I felt like the ending was an after thought to try to tie into all the 2020 craziness.
Overall, it was an interesting read but somewhat predictable.

This is a twisty domestic drama that kept me flipping pages way past bedtime, diving deep into family dynamics, secrets, and how the past never stays buried! The family is messy, believable, and oddly charming in their dysfunction.
At first, it felt like a bit of a slow burn (I definitely questioned where it was going), but once the mystery kicked in, I was hooked. I loved how the narrative wove between timelines and perspectives, keeping me guessing and second-guessing everyone’s motives. Also, the dry humour had me snorting and the sharp observation kept it human.
Lost a star only because the pacing dragged in a few places, and I didn’t totally buy every character’s arc by the end. But still, a solid, satisfying read with a side of suspense.

Ugh OK I have a lot of mixed feelings about this. In general: great writing, compelling characters, the plot really draws you in.
Spoilers (sort of): the last 15% of the book was really a roller coaster. I thought it was weird to write the pandemic into the last few chapters, and the ending sequence is hard to follow. Some story lines resolved too nicely, some were not resolved at all. No one died (well, maybe) and no one disappeared and anyone who would have/ could have been the villain gets exonerated by having some deep childhood trauma. Booooo I want a villain!!!

I’d rate this 3.5⭐️ The book was good but I wasn’t necessarily hooked by the storyline. Also, I found that the last 30ish pages were unnecessary. Lots of times I wish books had an extra chapter or two after the main resolution, but in this case the last 5 or so chapters didn’t add anything to the story imo

2.5 stars. Listened to the audiobook while driving to Moab and slowly finished it after. The building up of the mystery was decent although I never really believed the red herrings. The last few chapters made no sense and really should have been cut. Not mad I listened to this but definitely don’t recommend.
