I received an advanced copy of this book from Goodreads in exchange for an honest review. I’m a big fan of B.A. Paris and usually enjoy the books. This one was not my favorite but I did like it. It was a REALLY slow burn in the beginning and I just felt the suspense being dragged out because they kept mentioning the same stuff over and over and over in different chapters but not really getting to the point. Then right before the party the S*** hits the fan and it was hard to put down after that. Again a bit of an issue with the constant mentioning of the same stuff over and over which got to be a little tiresome. All in all it was a good book and it did draw emotion from me.

It's very hard to write a review about this book without any spoilers. This book was very good, but very different than I expected it to be. It wasn't really a thriller, but more a family drama. This family has got so many secrets. It was a bumpy and emptional ride. This book is very well written and you can feel the tension between the characters. It was so hard for me to put down the book. I'm looking forward to see what else this author is going to write.

This book was....fine. I read it very quickly, not necessarily because it was so good I couldn't put it down, but more so because it was an easy read & I had a lot of household chores I wanted to procrastinate on....

Truly this was a book that could have been a novella, there isn't actually much happening that required a nearly 300 page story - a husband & wife each learn upsetting news (one significantly more upsetting, one could even say COMPLETELY DEVASTATING & LIFE CHANGING AND OF COURSE YOU HAVE TO TELL YOUR WIFE YOU IDIOT HOW ARE YOU JUST WALKING AROUND AT A PARTY RIGHT NOW?!?!? level) and for various (stupid) reasons choose to put off telling the other. And then they do tell each other! Yay! Communication! But...then they just kind of.... decide to not deal with half of it???

I don't know. The last B.A. Paris book I read was just incredibly f*cked up and I absolutely loved it, truly a thriller and a dark one at that. This felt more like listening to my grandma tell me a story that was moderately interesting & important to the family but also way too long and I didn't really care about it....
