I'm not as familiar with Stafford's poety as I probably should be considering that I attended Lewis & Clark University where he was a faculty member. What drew me to this particular short story were Dennis Cunningham's gorgeous linocut illustrations, which beautifully offset the heartbreaking "missed-love" story of Evangeline and the narrator.
