I listened to the audiobook. At first I was put off by the author’s voice but soon I realized I was listening to the actual human who endured the captivity she was describing, and my heart softened toward her voice. This story is horrible, distressing, and sickening. But Amanda remained full of hope, and that has stuck with me.

It sure is hard to rate a memoir - but here goes anyway: I think this is a truly important story to tell and I am sure glad it was told and shared. Amanda’s insight into her own follies was much appreciated. That being said, this book was 200 pages too long which I believe was to help us get a sense of what 460 days of captivity *felt like* - which I didn’t care for.
