I listened to the audiobook. At first I was put off by the author’s voice but soon I realized I was listening to the actual human who endured the captivity she was describing, and my heart softened toward her voice. This story is horrible, distressing, and sickening. But Amanda remained full of hope, and that has stuck with me.

This account is absolutely harrowing, but I couldn't put it down. The writing is very polished (probably thanks to the cowriter) and the story itself is horrifying and riveting. Major content warnings for kidnapping, torture, rape, sexual assault, etc.
