This series has really found its feet, with the second book, in my opinion. The characters voices are very vivid and the story gripping. Straight on to book 3.

This is the spin-off series from Jodi Taylor's popular St. Mary's books, about Matthew Farrell, who was kidnaped as a child and forced to work as a chimney sweep in Victorian London. Then he was sheltered by the Time Police in the future to escape his mother's enemies. Now he's a Time Police trainee, tracking down criminals who want to use time travel for no good. In this book, his adventures take him to 18th century France, early 20th century England, ancient Egypt and mostly, the Ice Age. There's a big saggy plot area about 1/3 of the way in but if you slog through it, you'll find a lot of excitement and the end was very "must listen."

The sequel is easily as good as the first book. I love where this story is going, and can't wait to read the next book. I'm also thinking of reading the other series' related to this.

This book was an easy read. Characters were loveable and relatable! It’s refreshing to read. Easy to pick up and get lost in the time police’s world.

The best of an excellent series. The best kind of light reading. Anyone who's new to the author, and who likes time travel, should start with the Chronicles of St Mary's.

This book leaves two conspicuous loose ends. I'm looking forward to the characters resolving them in the next book in the series.
