Took a break from this series for a while and I've really enjoyed coming back so far. I thought the twist with the blasting rod and fire magic was really well done. I remember thinking he was using Fozare a whole lot this time a round, but I thought he was just trying to keep from hurting his friends. While the end of story of the book felt like it drug on and didn't have a great resolution (setting up future plotlines like always), the chapel scene tore me up really good.

I feel like Mr. Butcher has toned down the sexualized descriptions of women a little, to where it's slightly more bearable than before.

Overall I really enjoyed this entry and look forward to the next one, especially knowing how much people love "Changes".

It's pretty standard Dresden. And I'm afraid that I'm just rating these books based on how much something in the specific Dresden book annoyed me. And for this one there didn't seem to be a lot of annoyances.
In general, Dresden books are fun to listen but I seemed to be waiting to be over with it so I could start the next one and then the next one and so on until I would be done with the series.

I really enjoyed this series when Butcher focused on Harry and his relationships and interactions with his friends and family. The characters are enjoyable and the plots were intriguing. This book, and the two or three that precede it, is so filled with action sequences and battles that there’s hardly any room for plot development. I get so bored with these scenes that I end up forgetting what’s even being fought about and who is on what side. I don’t know if things will get better in future books or if this trend will continue…I may not stick around to find out.

Another great installment of the Dresden Files.
As always I was very well entertained and loved every page of the book. I absolutely adore Harry and his unique way to always stumble from one trouble into the next problem... This way it'll never get boring!
If you liked the last 9 books, it is save to say, you'll have fun with this one too!
