Chasing River was the third book on the Burying Water Series, and it was just as good as the first two. KA Tucker does not disappoint.
This story centers around Amber Welles, Jesses sister from the first book. Amber takes a trip to Ireland, which was one of many places on her list of countries she would be travelling for four months. While in Ireland, she gets caught in the cross fires of a bomb placed in a park by the IRA. The only reason Amber walks away from this attack is due to River Delaney, who saves her. However, the reason River knew there was a bomb placed in the park was because his brother, who is a part of the IRA, placed it there.
After the attack, Amber makes it a point to try and find the man who saves her, and when she does, her and River become more than friends very quickly.
What I loved about this book was that it digs into the history of Ireland, including the famine that ravaged Ireland in the 1800s, as well as the start of the Irish Republic.
Would I Reread? Yes

It was refreshing to read a book in this genre that included some historical facts. I now want to make a travel bucket list. Full review to come closer to publication date.
As like Kathleen's other books, this one will have you on the edge of your seat from the start to finish. Between River and Amber, this is a book that will leave you wanting more.
Amber is sweet and inquisitive. She doesn't miss anything. She is determined to find out what happened to her in that park. She doesn't have long, and what she does find could possibly cost her more than what she had barained for.
River is just a man trying to survive, survive through his brother's mistakes and mishaps. These mistakes are mistakes that could not only cost his own life but land him in prison. After saving this beautiful woman, he wants to move forward. Then she walks into his bar, and his life as he has known it has been turned upside down.
This book is slow. Not in the painfully slow kind of slow. Slow as in the right speed for this story. It doesn't move so quick that you get whiplash wondering what just happened, and it doesn't move so slow you want it to speed up before your hair starts to turn grey. It goes right at the perfect pace that you will get the whole story with just the right pace that will have you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next.
Kathleen is one of those authors that always leaves you wanting more no matter what kind of ending you get. This book is no different that others. It will have you itching to get to the end, but at the same time you want the story to keep on going.

I really enjoyed the first two books of this series and couldn't wait to read the next installment. Amber was a supporting character in Burying Water and was quite interesting but obviously dealing with heartache. This book started off with quite a bang, literally. I found myself hooked from the first chapters. Even though River appeared to be the dashing hero, it was obvious he had to be hiding some dark secrets. I adored him despite his possible background.
--the white knight, riding in to save her and sweep her off her feet - is effectively dead and buried.
While it wasn't as suspenseful as Burying Water, there were a few unique twists and turns. Having the dual points of view was an added bonus, as well. I loved being inside River's head. He was such a complex and interesting character in addition to his obvious sex appeal. I'm not usually a fan of insta-connection, but it was so well written here. Due to external circumstances, their attraction to each other was realistic. However, the real life complications were even more realistic and heartfelt.
I'll take the bait. I'll chase you, River.
The country of Ireland turned out to be one of the most interesting aspects of this story. Ms. Tucker did not just give the obvious tourist information. It was like actually having a first rate tour with a lifelong resident. There was in depth discussion and detailed information about lesser known Irish landmarks. It added to the allure of Irish people and it's political strife for the last several decades. The supporting cast, especially Ivy was first rate. This is a positive trait I've come to expect from all of Tucker's books. I cannot wait for in the next installment.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book and my adoration for K.A. Tucker only grows. I felt the final chapters were a little rushed, and I still had lingering questions. Despite that, it didn't hinder my love for River and Amber, and I am hopeful there will be an update in book 4. I highly recommend this series to any NA fan who enjoys some suspense and well developed story-lines.
Thank you to NetGalley and Atria books for my advanced copy.

Foolish youth is a strange and wondrous time that vanishes too quickly.
Similar to Becoming Rain, I wanted to love this book but I found Amber to be insufferable. Despite Amber being the ultimate “good girl” and responsible I found her to be incredibly immature in this novel. She can still let loose while holding herself to a higher standard. I enjoyed River’s character and getting to learn more about his familial back story. His character had a lot of depth and I appreciated how proud he was of his heritage. I couldn’t grasp the instant attraction and connection between River and Amber, especially from River’s side. I understand that due to the nature of Amber’s short stay in Dublin they to expedite their relationship but I was hoping to see more of an emotional connection between the two of them. I did appreciate seeing Amber travel on her own briefly at the end of the novel ensuring she stayed true to herself.
Tucker’s strength with me lies in her ability to write strong secondary characters and she delivers here. Ivy, the tattoo artist from the previous books, and Rowen, River’s brother, stole the show with their banter. I was shocked how much I enjoyed the development of Ivy and Rowen’s relationship. I actually found myself being more interested in their storyline rather than that of Amber and River’s.
Unlike Tucker’s other series, this main storyline differs from the other novels. This book in the series particularly can be read as a standalone. I found myself missing the other previous characters and the main story. I enjoyed the conversation she had with Alex but found her relationship with her father to be inappropriately protective. I felt like he regarded her as if she was a child. I enjoyed the historical elements but at times found that it might have overshadowed the romance between Amber and River. Tucker’s writing as always is a pleasure to read and despite me not being a fan of the characters her writing is what makes me enjoy reading her books.
Overall, this book was just not for me but if you are enjoying the Burying Water series so far then I think it’s worth a read to give you a picture of the entire series.

I received a free copy from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Amber saved in order to experience a cross country trip after her ex said she was too inexperienced to date seriously. While she is in Dublin she walks through the park only to find herself in the middle of a retaliation on behalf of the IRA. River Delaney becomes her hero and shields her. He has a troubled past but is now trying to keep his families pub running smoothly. When Amber tracks him down, he pushes her away while still wanting her close.
I loved the background of Dublin and the trials it has faced. River is always trying to save his brother and his loyalty to his family was endearing. The love story was really sweet and a good happy ending.
