A quick read with lots of juicy drama, some heartbreak, and a couple of “oh shit” moments. I’m working my way through Elin’s back list and this is one of her older novels that I wasn’t sure what to expect. It was a happy surprise!

It took me forever to read because it was so boring. Meh.
Typical chick-lit. I foresee a Jennifer Anniston film in our future. I'm sure it'll be wonderful, just like all the others.
Liked the characters, makes me want to visit Nantucket

I received this book as a first reads copy. I only gave this book two starts but that is because it was not really my type of book. However, If you are looking for a good summer beach read this is the book for you. Lots of family drama, complicated love stories and cute romantic moments made for a cheesy but enjoyable ride. Don't expect any deep life lessons but most beach reads don't come with those anyway!
Elin Hilderbrand is an author that I really enjoy reading, so was quite happy to run across Beautiful Day on Hoopla (the audio book app my local library uses). I loved the story, it kept me engaged and wanting more. I listen while driving and since my commute is super short, I don't get to listen much, but it was perfect and made hitting red lights not so bad, just meant I got to hear more of the story.
Beautiful Day is the story of a mom that knows she won't be alive for her daughter's wedding, due to her cancer. The mom, Beth, writes a wedding "manual" for Jenna, her youngest daughter, so that when she does meet the man she will marry and gets engaged, she will have some input from her mom. It's a sweet story, the family seems very "real", and I highly recommend it.
