A little less engaging than the first in the series, but still a solid cozy mystery to listen to while doing busywork. Planning on continuing the series.

Wesley continues to shine in her character building and atmosphere in this second book of the Odessa Jones series. Even with the inclusion of magic, these books feel so grounded in complicated emotions and growth in a way that can be rare in cozy mysteries. I'm looking forward to reading further in the series.
Graphic: Grief
Moderate: Infidelity, Toxic relationship, Emotional abuse, Alcoholism, and Death
Minor: Classism, Fire/Fire injury, Pregnancy, and Suicide
