I knocked off one point for the ending.
I thought the plot was interesting, albeit predictable.

I liked Lowen and was rooting for her.
Am I the only one who noticed the gaping plot hole with the ending? Or maybe not a hole. Regardless… Jeremy allegedly found the manuscript on Verity’s laptop. Then there was a printed copy. But Jeremy made the suicide ending on the laptop and later deleted it. Lowen later finds the long lost printed copy. Which means it wouldn’t have had the suicide ending? Therefore, it’s proof that Verity’s final letter wouldn’t be the truth, correct? Seems like a major thing for Lowen to miss.

The final ending didn’t resonate. Just let your villain be a villain. That’s much more compelling imo.

I am unsure on how I feel after reading this.
Very disturbing yet I could not stop reading it. I have the collector’s edition with the extra chapter. I honestly feel like this book could use a second story to tie up everything and give it an actual end. The ending was ok but still leave you wondering. I also wonder wtf was going through CoHos mind while writing this. A lot of things were so disturbing to read.

The anti-NYC agenda got hard to read /j but also really, it broke immersion for me as a New Yorker ahahaha

Could not put this book down! Different from the usual Colleen Hoover love stories, kept me on my toes the whole time.

YES, THIS BOOK STILL HOLDS UP AS ONE OF MY MOST FAVORITE BOOKS OF ALL TIME. That is all.

Original Review: 7/15/2019
OH. EM. GEE.
This book is officially going down in history as one of my all-time favorite books. I LOVED every minute of this crazy book. I definitely was surprised by the ending. I stayed up until 2 am to finish reading this book because I just couldn't put it down. I had to wait a couple of days to write this review just to process my thoughts on this book.

There were parts in this book that were absolutely terrifying. No spoilers here, but: stairs, wood floorboard. If you've read it, you know the parts I'm talking about. SO CREEPY.

Here I am, a few days and a few books later and I'm STILL thinking about this book. When you have an ending that sticks with you like that, you know it's one of your all-time favorites.

I would LOVE to see this book as a movie. I just hope they don't ruin it! Also, I hope Colleen Hoover writes more thrillers because I SOAKED this book up!

HOW I RATE BOOKS (for reference):
5 stars: an amazing book. a book that will stay in my mind days, weeks, months later. typically an all-time favorite, although not always. Most likely to reread
4 stars: a great book, but is just missing that one thing to set it over the edge. would be somewhat likely to reread
3 stars: meh book. was able to get through it and the story was okay, but not something I'd likely reread
2 stars: just no. a book I did not enjoy, but was able to get through without DNFing
1 star: did not like it at all, was bored and couldn't get through it, DNF'd

Not my cup of tea....... it's that type of book that you want to finished it as soon as you can to find out what actually happened at the end but the story line does not impressed you at all.... I will (want to) forget about this book by my next read. Will reccommend this to people who wants to get out of reading slump though. It will act like a stepping stone to your next awesome read!
