This made me sick. 38 minutes into the book and I already hate the mc. Sexual assaulting someone you see about to commit suicide is disgusting. Just because it’s dark romance doesn’t mean the mc should be a rapist.

I’ve had the Legacy of Gods series on my tbr for forever, but it never quite felt like the right time. Last year I read the fifth book on a whim and loved it.

This year, the planets aligned and the whole series went on sale and I snapped them up just in time for a dark romance craving to hit.

And jee-zuss is this dark. Not in the bloody way, though there’s certainly plenty of that. But in the way Glyndon and Killian’s relationship unfolds and the way that the author makes no apologies or concessions for who and what the mmc is.

Starting a romantic arc with blatant noncon between the mains is certainly a choice. The fact that the mmc’s views on that never change or waver? Ballsy.

And honestly? I’m not mad about it. Killian is a card carrying psychopath and not in the fun, unrealistic Diesel way. The cold this man is capable of speaks directly to my coal dark heart and I adore everything about this story.

It’s most definitely not for everyone. The kind of ‘not for everyone’ that means I would probably not rec it to someone I wasn’t absolutely positive had read/enjoyed authors like Rina Kent and Lauren Biel.

But for the right person, this book is stunning and definitely a fun ride.

DNF - I made it less than 5% into the book. The first scene includes the MMC r@ping the FMC. This is not dark romance, that's way over the line for me. I kept waiting for the narrator to say that it was a planned encounter and they were acting out a fantasy - nope. Straight r@pe. He gives her the option of r@pe or literally throwing her off a kick. There's no coming back from that. Not sure I'll try anything else by this author after that. Pretty glad I didn't spend money on this. I'd be upset.

This wasn't dubious consent or acting out a fantasy they discussed. The relationship starts with literal r@pe. That's not a r@pe fantasy being fulfilled that's just straight r@pe.

I went into this blind because I love dark romance, but when the first 5 chapters only had content rape content, I looked more into the book.
it seems like the rapist becomes a main love interest and turns into a “romance” from there. Stories of falling for your rapist are terrible.
these aren’t for me.

I didn't finish it because the author had the MMC talking about wanting to rape the FMC before providing the reader with either the man's name or at least a proper physical description. All you were told was that he was somewhere over 6ft tall with dark eyes & was holding her on the edge of a cliff while basically saying he'd push her off if she didn't let him rape her.
