i love this book, even though [spoiler] always makes me tear up. i'm reading about general walton (henry w. lawton in real life) on wikipedia -- he had a majestic mustache. the name of allison's canary, nagasaki, struck me as morbid until i remembered that, duh, this was a good 40 years before the bombing.
