It was okay, some great spicy scenes and I loved it until the end. I was excited about the series but I forced myself to finish it

Our MMC is assaulting people in public.... in front of crowds - and just walking away from it without repercussion, Our FMC has a head full of rocks - honestly .... she can't figure out who is stalking her? Never mind that the MMC shows up everywhere she is... never mind that the MMC assaults others who touch her and tells her over and over he'll kill anyone that does because she is his. (Spoiler alert, he does kill men who are interested in her) Never mind the FMC concluding she has a stalker and her only evidence is that he's leaving a pearl from her necklace on her bed side table each night. So.... then that means she's sleeping just fine every night... knowing someone is breaking into her home to leave said pearl? We live in an age of wireless camera's come on now, she isn't even trying to figure it out? She's to the point of fearing for others, yet she hasn't gone to the police? It makes ZERO sense. She is so unbearably dense that it was unbelievable to see her as a capable adult in any capacit.

⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ : Writing was nothing special, even a little annoying at times. Plot and character development leaves a lot to be desired. Saving grace is being an easy read and personally enjoyable.
🌶 🌶 🌶 🌶 🌶 : This is what made it worth the read. Explicit scenes, kinks, and smut being the driving force behind this book. Recommend reading the trigger warnings provided by the author.
A dark, stalker romance. Very much a spicy will they, won't they.
Received this for a blind date with a book to find my way back to reading. Very easy read to ignite that passion again, and more. Writing itself is lacking a bit, with a few of turns of phrase too often repeated for my taste. It did pique my interest enough to keep me reading though. I was able to suspend disbelief and place the triggers where they belong, in fiction, as the plot and characters felt so unrealistic and ungrounded. Personally, not a fan of how abruptly the book ended. It simply did not seem to have a completed story arc for book one. But I also think if it were any longer it would have dragged on and most likely would have been a DNF for me. It almost felt like the writer was struggling how to make her own plot work its way out of the heavy set of triggers it revolved around.Like all the back and forth with Calista was the author's uncertainty in the plot itself. Suppose it could also be viewed as Calista being cautious with a person who consistently presents toxic behavior. It was just a lot of vacillating within Calista that reached a limit with me due to the knowledge the duology had to end with them together. With that being said, the delicious dark romance lit my curiosity, the spice kept it enflamed. I wouldn’t chalk this up to anything more than a dark, spicy book. Nothing wildly special, but also not a complete disaster.
Content obviously contained incredibly problematic themes. The control Hayden wishes to possess over Calista is personally triggering. That aside, I enjoyed my first dark romance book and even found Hayden irresistiblethe more he softened around the edges . The tension and spice had me wanting to read more. Writing was decent enough to get through and even if I was most likely coming back for the spice, it held my curiosity enough to want to find out how the author pulled together the problematic themes to allow the characters a happily ever after in the second book .

No spoilers. Read via kindle unlimited.
I think I had higher hopes for this type of book, this would be a great starter book in this genre. In my journey though, I needed more. The best friends are hilarious, and I enjoyed reading their parts a lot. The MMC and FMC hopefully have more to build on in book two. I just felt like there was staggering build that never got over the bump to build in book one, so hopefully more in book two to get it building and have a great ending. I did like the book, just didn’t love it.
Would I recommend it? Maybe, if you are newer to this type of genre yes, if not just be known that you’re not going to get the high feelings of this genre (at least in book one).
