PNW, Mount Olympus National Park. Dr. Audrey Kendrick has wanted to be a park archeologist, from a youthful age, and now she has been given that opportunity. Only for her park to be taken over by Xavier Rivera, Navy SEAL operations trainer, and one-night stand from several months ago. What neither of them realize is that there are forces working against both of them, and no matter their grievances with one another, they are going to have to use all their skills to make it out alive.
Thrilling. That’s the best word I could produce for this adventure love story. Our characters are running from almost the first page, and they don’t stop until the epilogue. I loved the natural setting of this story, the weather, the wilderness all lent a hand in taking this story the next step and kept my heart racing. Fast, edge of your seat story will keep you turning the pages long into your day or night.
*Side note: Be sure and read the short story Before the Storm: One Hot Night. A fun, short prequel to this story.

Into the Storm
Evidence: Under Fire, Book 1
By: Rachel Grant
Narrated by: Nicol Zanzarella, Greg Tremblay
What a story! I love this kind of romantic suspense. It's not only thrilling with that thread of romance, but it's smart and made me want to know more! Rachel Grant always delivers a good story, and once I met Xavier an Audrey in Before the Storm, I knew I was going to be in for a treat. Audrey is an archaeologist, overseer of sacred park land and is very passionate about all surrounding areas. When a permit to launch a Navy SEALs training expedition came through her desk, she immediately declined it. Not realizing the requestor, Xavier used their one night stand as leverage to overturn her objection and the permit passed. Now he not only is bringing in the SEALS, but danger he didn't see coming. Xavier has a real mission now and protecting the curious archaeologist is just part of it! These two are fantastic together. Xavier is always on alert, but when it comes to Audrey, his defenses are down! Audrey's need to know finds her in a heap of trouble. The twists and turns kept me guessing. The plot is intricate, but easy to follow and the romance is hot! I enjoyed their story and am looking forward to the next book!
Nicol Zanzarella and Greg Tremblay bring this story to life. Both are tuned into their characters and create their personalities as I imagine them. The thrills are high, and they both keep that sense of danger looming. I loved their interpretation of the story and will be watching for more!

for a book that is labeled as a ‘thriller’, this turned out to be nothing like what i imagined. i read the first part and did not enjoy it but decided to give ‘into the storm’ a chance to see if reading more of this story and characters would change my mind. it didn’t. the writing wasn’t terrible per say but i wasn’t able to connect with any of the characters, despite the author giving a background of many of their lives and also switching povs constantly. bc of that i felt like a lot of time was lost and the story was moving too slowly for my liking. in the end, the plot wasn’t engaging and i guess it wasn’t my cup of tea.
Re-read as background for the upcoming [b:Trust Me|61765839|Trust Me (Evidence Under Fire, #2)|Rachel Grant|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1672437802l/61765839._SY75_.jpg|97387627] release. My 5-⭐️ rating still stands ❤️

One of my favorite things about reading is when we run into other characters from other stories by the author. Ms Grant has a hefty oeuvre. This is her TWENTY-FIRST published book. Holy cow, that's a lot of writing. In this story, Bastian Ford is mentioned. Yes, that Bastian... Bastian the Bastard from the Flashpoint series. On top of that, we meet up again with Undine and Luke from Cold Evidence. I love these little nuggets of joy, they're a wink and a nod to her readers. Nicely done, Ms Grant. Anyhow, this was a wild ride. Audrey is phenomenal. I love her grit and sassy attitude… and Xavier. Sigh. He’s simply dreamy despite the jerk move at the beginning. This story had so many layers. Each character was multi-faceted and distinct. I’m looking forward to the next book!

I liked it but didn't love it. there is a lot to improve but the plot did keep me hooked.
I’m not sure how I’ve never read Rachel Grant before, but I will definitely be fixing that sooner rather than later!!!
This is one of the best romantic suspense novels I’ve ever read. The amount of detail included is unbelievable.
