And so the Rivers of London series marathon draws to a close ...or so I thought! Turns out my library has several of the novellas and a short story collection included in the series, which should be more than enough to keep me entertained until the next novel's release date in June, though whether that coincides with when my library gets the audiobook license ...😩 I can hope.
Anyway!
In keeping with the 'we all know the characteristics that make up the enjoyable framework of this series, here are the things in this entry in particular that I loved,' here's another list that won't make much sense until you read the book:

Beatrice the rottweiler!
"shall I compare thee to a giant squid, thou art more lovely and less tentacled"
Listing selection of beverages to the potential assailant with the light show and the golden spear as a possible peace offering :"I'll even throw in a croissant"
Danny's Goblin market purchase 😉
Talking fox arguing about priority of washing when the washing machine is so comfy to curl up in! 😂🥹
Peter on ackwledging his Latin is improving:
"Proof positive that if you bang your head on a copy of Pliny the Elder eventually the Romans will seep in." 😆
German raven, Ghost plane 🫡

Such a great trip back into the world of magical policing. I love how the author is extending the world and allowing for character growth and new possibilities instead of focusing on one big bad guy the whole series. I can’t wait for the next one.

When I sit down after one of these books I sometimes have trouble remembering the sequence of leads, traipsing from one location to the next, and developments in the case. Here I actually had a fair amount of trouble while still reading the book. Magic rings, ex-spouses, books with writing in them, magic lamps... there was a lot of pausing and cross-examining my reading partner.
We got there, mostly, but if you've read this recently, please help us figure out what Foxglove's job was in the big final action scene.
With
SpoilerNightingale claiming he's headed for retirement,
I can't wait to see where these go next.

I’m continuing to really enjoy this series. Not going stale at all. I’m finding it interesting how the books continue to connect with non-fiction readings I’ve been doing. In this case, it’s touching on the Spanish Inquisition.

The folly is really out of its depth when the angel of death makes a visit to London!.
I love a twisty and time sensitive case, so it was nice to listen to Peter trying to figure it all out!
Really nice world expansion in this one, although I do feel like it’s coming a few books too late (Manchester in particular)

Twins expected, foxes on the case, Peter travels to Manchester and parts Northern, an Angel appears to be killing off people who own a certain type of ring. It all kicks off in the London Silver Vaults. There are hints of new locations and characters. Magic!
