Phenomenal God

Angry God.
Lil Vicious.
Vaughn.

The culmination of the SOS and ASH world reached an apex with the phenomenal, exquisite, beautiful work Leigh did with Angry God.

Lenora is the perfect match for Vaughn in every way.

This book dug deep into the souls, minds, and hearts of readers and ensnared us all.

Without a doubt, Angry God will stay with me for a lifetime.

It's like a 3.999999 for me. There's definitely some trigger warning content and some weird kinks in the book but I like the characters and the series.

my first book by this author & i loved it.

idk, maybe it's because i read too much r*na k*nt before this one, but i enjoyed it eminently.

the scene... THE SCENE is the hottest i've read in books so far, just remembering it makes me add a star.
(and i've read a lot of good fanfiction, okaaaay?)

you kinda know where it's going as the story progresses, but it was ... detailed and made me want to skip.

Our journey began with the story of the father- the delicious Vicious, the domineering, brash, cold, and conniving head hothole whose heart thawed only for his leading lady, and later his son. It seems only fitting that the Todo Santos stories end (or least this chapter of them) with the story of his son, Vaughn, our Angry God.

The anticipation has been building for a while for Vaughn's story- we've seen him now in Knight/Luna and Daria's tales- and he's an enigma. Kind, empathetic, and supportive one minutes and dark, brooding, and dickish the next - but we learned in those tales what is the crux of who Vaughn is- someone who will do anything for those he loves, even if the emotion itself is abhorrent and confusing to him. Vaughn is everything you want in a bully-anti-hero, and he's inherited the things we love most about his parents. Like Vic he's smug, calculating, vindictive, and cruelly charismatic- a dark masterpiece you can't look away from, can't help but be drawn to. Yet, he he's an artist like Emilia, with some of her heart and a lot of her sass. He has empathy, that he's constantly trying to smother.

We didn't really know "good girl" Lenora previously- but man, I love her. And, what a match she is for Vaughn, a love interest that I never thought we'd find. She's got a firm spine, confidence, a sharp tongue, and a lack of self-consciousness that is refreshing in a teenager. But, she's not overly boorish or domineering at the same time. She's as patient and empathetic as she is bold, artistic and reverent as she is internally defiant.

Together, they are magnetic, explosive- a beautifully crafted, well defined masterpiece, much like the art Vaughn chisels away at in the basement. Their sharp edges meld together to smooth both of them out- and they do what everyone around them seemingly cannot- they truly see one another.

Without giving away too much here- you have your classic old-connection, reunited in a bully situation tale- but it is not your run of the mill. Sure- we have our typical alpha cheerleaders, school/boarding school vibe, and the secretly hot outcast with daddy issues trope, but man, is it done well here- and done to new heights. Secrets abound, tragic misunderstandings occur, stakes are more adult and more painful, settings rapidly change, and our characters genuinely learn and evolve at a pace that keeps you turning the pages.

Like the last book, where my heart was ripped out at the end, your heart hurts here, too- but for different reasons. We learn and witness true trauma in some of our characters- and through it we learn to love them more, as they try to learn to love themselves and each other.

I didn't think I could love any stories more than I love our hotholes', but then the tots came along and turned everything on its head. We get to see daddy Vic, which I've been dying for since Daria's book- and we get a variety of perspectives here, including some favorites. I can genuinely say that there is a chapter in Angry God with Vic and Vaughn this is so incredibly beautiful and heartbreaking- a subtle, gentle, and powerful snapshot of Vic as a father. That chapter alone was worth the sleep I lost reading this book in one sitting. And, at first, I was distressed because while we have Vic and Emilia, we get no Daria and fam, No Trent/Luna/Edie, and barely any Knight- but then, I don't regret it- Vaughn deserves to have his story told his way, undiluted by the happiness of his fellow tots, and instead isolated, beautifully tragic, and dark- just as we find Vaughn himself.

Brava, LJ, what a brilliant conclusion to this journey. My heart will always be with these characters.

This books will have you in the best kind of knots. Not only is it edgy it is also beautiful. There are so many different layers to these characters. They are definitely not see what you get kind of kids.

Vaughn really is a dark prince. He is beautiful, talented, conniving but he is also really sweet, thoughtful and fiercely protective of those he loves. He has a tragic secret that haunts him. And how he goes about things is a little off kilter. But all of this is going to make you love him more.

Lenny is a girl who is forced to leave her comfort zone and forced into a world that doesn’t understand her. She hides her real self, but underneath it all she is Vaughn’s equal.

It is so refreshing to see a female lead not take shit from other people and actually fight them back. Was so rooting for Len anytime she hit Arabella. And everything about Vaughan was amazing. The baskets, the sculpture, the surprise, choosing to get the girl, the ring. His story destroyed me along with the fact that the secret that Len ‘knew’ was so far off from reality. Glad they got rid of Harry like that, very much deserved and a very nice touch to destroy all his art. Also really liked how Edgar’s character pulled through in the end and that he was truly always caring for his daughters even if they didn’t realize. Read it as a stand-alone but I might go read the others because I really liked the way this story was written and I’d like to see more from L.J Shen

Stories are written to evoke emotions. Stories are written to take you into a world with unforgettable characters and words that leave a mark. Have you ever read a story that leaves you breathless? Unique. Seducing. Angry God unravelled my soul. Angry God took me on a whirlwind spin into a dark, rich and phenomenal story. What have you done, LJ. Shen? You made me a prisoner to your beautiful world of Todos Santos featuring a flawed, broken and heartless alpha and his leading lady. Heart Curling. Soul Bending. Astounding. Angry God is an out of the box romance with an effortless story that takes you on an emotional spin. Angsty. Heartbreaking. Soul crushing. A delicious read with a bewitching story bordering on crazy, volatile, dangerous, tragic, broken and passionate love. An enemies to lovers story with a fresh and slightly insane twist. I am enamoured. I am forever enchanted. L.J. Shen is the queen of angst and her world of asshole alphas, strong and sassy heroines and layered, heart tingling stories is her kingdom. I bow down to her magnificence.

L.J. Shen truly never writes a bad character. Each and every character she has ever written, I fell head over heels in love with them. Vaughn…Heartless King. Powerful. Dangerous. Vaughn dominated my heart. I waited for his story. It was truly worth it. Broken. Flawed. Vaughn caused a huge earth shattering destruction in my heart. I wasn’t ready for him. I wasn’t prepared for the onslaught. What an attack. My poor heart. Tsk. Tsk. Tsk. Only Vaughn deserves a heroine who can be his queen. Enter Lenora, a strong, sassy, crazy, and talented heroine who dazzled me. Man, I loved Lenora. She was different and full of conviction. Vaughn and Lenora caused fireworks, butterflies and earthquakes deep in my heart. Absolutely scorching and decadent.

Read Angry God. IT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE!!!
