All Saints high couldn’t finish in a better way than with Vaughn, everyone needs to agree.

I have been waiting for Vaughn since Pretty Reckless. I needed his story, needed to be inside of his head and oh, how I loved it. He’s nasty in a honest way, funny too. He was all I was waiting to be. And I really liked Lenora. He’s the perfect match for him, I knew there was more to that “brave” behavior against her bully and I liked to see all her colors, the badass and then fragile and the insecure and the provocative.

I really like their story. As couple, I mean. How it started and how it ended, I loved it. Those last chapters and the epilogue were so good, it bring all the feelings and I loved it.

My only problem is the first 70% of the book. Let me just say: the book is predictable. It is. It starts with Vaughn’s “secret”. And from early on, you know or suspect what’s the secret and who it involves. You also can predict the dramatic aspects, you know where it’s going to lead. Being predictable doesn’t have to be bad. It’s just that it was dragged. You spend 70% of the book wanting it to speed up, it’s dragged and dragged and dragged and dragged. At some point, I thought it wasn’t going to end. I wanted it to be cut short and move on.
I wanted more than those last 30%.

Not sure if is my favorite book of the series. I know Vaughn and Lenora story are my favorite. I also know that Vaughn and Lenora were perfect for the ending of this series (if it’s the ending, idk).

Now, let me go back and reread those last 3-4 chapters. It was precious, I needed more.

La tipa pasó por tanto I know her pain. Dios amo este libro, pero es tan triste que no lo quiero leer en mucho tiempo porque me rompe este libro me hace llorar y todo. Love it a masterpiece pice made by them made from the best artists Vaughan y Lenny

Ouch.

I said after I read the previous book in this series that L.J. Shen most likely wasn’t for me anymore but that I would read the third one since Vaughn’s book intrigued me the most.

Now I can say after finishing this one that she definitely isn’t for me anymore. Partly because I have little interest in mf romance at this time. Also because I think I’m not the target audience for them. But that’s not why I am giving this two stars. Those wouldn’t be fair reasons.

The quality of her writing and storytelling has gone downhill. Big time. Despite thinking most of the guys were big douche canoes, I enjoyed her Sinners series. (The parents of the characters in these books.) Sometimes a girl just needs a book with an asshole. It’s true. Don’t judge! I loved, “Midnight Blue,” and really liked both , “The Kiss Thief,” and, “Dirty Headlines.” I would still totally reread those in the future.

Something changed in her writing after those for me. With this spin-off series, I became disenchanted. She ruined previous characters. The plots felt stale and recycled and the drama was melodramatic and way OTT. Almost nothing was different with this one.

The only reasons I’m giving it two stars instead of one are that a) I did finish it and b) She actually didn’t ruin previous characters in this one. Unlike the last two books, she left the parents from the original series alone and allowed them to stay true to character. Vicious and Millie weren’t my favorite couple of the Sinners books but I had grown to like them as the series progressed. I was happy to still like them here.

Take my review with a grain of salt as it seems to be a minority opinion.

I went into this book a little worried. I adored Emilia and Baron Spencer aka Vicious. I didn’t want them to be ripped to bits and fail Vaughn. I wanted to keep them as perfect parents framed by perfect pink cherry blossom.

I knew from Daria and Knight’s books that Vaughn is a pent up ball of anger but didn’t know what made him angry. Perhaps it is just that he’s a chip off the old block. The son of an angry man, becomes an angry man.

Lenora Astalis is a snarling dervish. She hates Vaughn but is obsessed with him. He’s horrid to her. It’s a pleasure to sit back and watch them fight. The fights are immense.

From the very first chapter you know there is a secret but it remains hidden and out of touch. Dangling like a carrot! What could it be?

Lenny and Vaughn are the perfect enemies to lovers. They torture each other, becoming more and more angry. Get the popcorn and wait for the explosion! It’s most excellent.

I would kill for an original sculpture by Vaughn Spencer.

As for my worry about Vic and Em - they’re still golden. Or pink and black.

the first two were so good <3

This was dreadful. Didn't like the plot, didn't see chemistry between Vaughn and Lenora and found their relationship very boring.

Daria & Penn aren't even in this book?! They're the first couple in this series and we don't even see them? That makes no sense. Better ending would've been something with all three couples.

tw: child abuse/rape
I'm totally against this policy that we shouldn't give trigger warnings because they spoil books, if someone can be triggered it's something we should speak loudly about and warn them off and fuck off who doesn't think the same.

I really enjoyed this book, Vaughn and Lenora are definitely my favorite couple from this spinoff. I loved the angst, the built up. My favorite part was definitely the Spencer family. Vicious and Vaughn, Emilia and Vaughn, Emilia and Vicious melt my heart and gave me life.
I wish we could've seen more of the other couples, but being set in another country it totally made sense for them to not appear.
I can totally predict this book will have polarizing opinions, but personally, I really had a great time with it.
