Eventhough there're less-to-none uses of dialogues symbols, it's still readable. The book itself has a beautiful meaning behind every conversations between the characters. The arguements will made me sitting at the edge of the chair.

As a big Sally Rooney fan, I was quite disappointed after finishing her most recent novel. Eventhough the writing was, as expected, brilliant, I found myself missing the personal thoughts of the protagonists. You could later read them in their Emails to one another, but still it was not the same as in her previous two novels where you truly had the feeling of looking inside the character‘s head which is one of my favorite things about Rooney‘s writing style. I also found the characters and especially the relationship between Felix and Alice flat. Felix was, I think, such a problematic und unlikeable character, which was probably intended, but I still found it quite hard to watch him treating Alice like he did. He made me truly agressive. One thing I found very interesting was how Rooney wrote the sex scenes in this novel. I feel like she really set a focus on the conversation during it. The telephone sex scene was actually one of my favourites, she did such an amazing job with that.

A lovely, inspiring and beautifully realistic book about finding meaning and beauty in a cold modern world. The conclusion of the book is disputable imo and I would have loved a bit more diversity w the characters. Still manages a great rating for the inspiring remarks on the modern world and the great writing.

this was AMAZING. sally rooney said "let me turn the dial all the way up to 10 with the communism, existentialism, sex, and intimacy". i would die for eileen and simon also. i saw a lot of reviews say that rooney really came into her full potential with this one and i fully agree. this had much less frustration with the characters like her earlier novels (these characters are also notably older) and this was a much happier and solidified ending than her previous works as well, it really left us on a great note. i've only blown through one other book like this in my adult life, and it was the phantom prince book about ted bundy.
