An ambitious sequel both in scope and worldbuilding, The Strength of the Few follows Vis post-Iudicium as he is split between three realities of indeterminate parallelism. Fighting returning evil and heretofore unknown forces alike, he must grapple just to understand--let alone face--an enemy that transcends even the Hierarchy of Caten.
SotF starts out slower, tossing the reader into these contemporaneous worlds just as Vis is, while maintaining the mysterious tone of The Will of the Many. Steadily, as our understanding of the world expands, we uncover the extent of its secrets instead, building to three equally heart-racing climaxes. With an ending that has me refreshing the publisher's website for news on the third book, the Hierarchy series is a must for readers of doorstopper high fantasy.
