Last book of the year that I finished on the train.
This was cute and fun. I think it read just a little too young for my liking. But if you're a baby sapphic, I think this would very much hit the spot. The MC really struggling with her sexuality intertwined with her late mother who will never know her was quite moving. She really tries to live the idea that her mom had of her when her mom was still alive.
I do think there was a lot of summary in this book where I would have liked more scene. I would have liked more expansion on the relationship with her dad for example. There are a few scenes like that, but I feel like it didn't really satisfy me enough at the end to believe they'll make substantial changes to their relationship.
Took a bit to get into but overall read really fast. There were, I think, a few times where I did not get the Americanisms or the references to things just flew over my head.
It was a nice sapphic read to end the year on. That's good enough for me.

This is such a perfect ya summer romance read! The vibes were immaculate with the small town setting and the beach and lake trips, it was just giving all the summer feels. I love bucket list type stories because it allows for so much character growth with them being pushed out of their comfort zone. Plus, it usually allows for some fun antics. This book definitely fulfilled what I wanted from that storyline. The romance was perfect and felt so natural. I absolutely loved Emily and Blake and how open they were with each other. Blake is also just so likable as a character, I mean how could you not love her? I also thought the book did a great job handling grief. It even caused me to get a little teary eyed at the end, which I was not expecting. Totally would recommend reading this one!
