Spice: 🌶 (Close to Non-Existent).

I am a fan of the Divergent Series!
Allegiant, however, did not give me the same feeling of enjoyment as when I read Divergent.

First let's address the elephant in the room, she dies?!
Tris can't die, she's Tris! That's what makes her Tris!
She can overcome anything despite being small, and she's immune to Serum effects unlike anyone!
Then she shows us reality- that we can't always overcome everything.
I will not lie - I did cry like a baby, and it is what made me feel any emotion in this book.

I enjoyed the POV change with Tobias as I connected with him more. Although, it did tip me off that something possibly was coming with Tris to have this change in the last book. I often found myself forgetting that I changed to Tobias, and had to double check who POV I was in.

I found it hard to believe after all Evelyn went through, she would so easily give up and call a treaty.
I was like just like that?!

I feel like a good portion of the story is traveling. Mainly in the Bureau or Outside the city, I found because of this, it took me much longer to get through this book, than the others in the series and at times found myself bored.

Finding out the reason for the experiment being about Genetic Purity and Genetic Damage, and that being their way to fix it was at not what I anticipated it being. It created another division of people, on top of the already divided factions. How did the factions help their Genetic Damage, and there were other experiments? Throw in the Divergent part, and it gets a little confusing to how they all relate. I thought the whole time, the reason was to create some kind of peace, and control over society as a whole, and divergent resisted what they used to control. Not that they were Genetically healed.

Overall interesting read, still fan of the series. RIP Tris. <3

Veronica. That ending... that was cruel.

Ok I didn't love the pace (felt very slow) and the outside world was very underwhelming and disappointing after being set up over the last two books. But it was definitely an interesting and different addition to the story.

The dual POV was ok and gave great insight into how much Tobias loves Tris (he's so romantic oml) but I didn't love it. It completely changed Tobias as a character - he went from being this strong, mysterious, powerful figure to a confused and nervous character who, yes, you sympathise with a lot. But I found myself ultimately missing the 'old Tobias'. However that being said, his POV in the last chapters really brought the whole story and character together.

There were some really nice character arcs but again I wasn't a fan of how some of them were written or fed into the story. Also don't underestimate the comedy in this series, there were so many witty lines and the banter between characters is sweet.

The ending WOW. Applause for Veronica Roth. It was devastating and the way grief was described was beautiful and felt accurate and real. I actually cried. The last couple chapters have brought this up to a 4 star.

This book was an emotional rollercoaster. It was filled with plot twists, action and great heartbreak ESPECIALLY ,the ending was soo emotional but it was justified..still I would have preferred a Happy ever after instead.

This book tore me apart. I found myself audibly yelling at the characters as if I could change their minds. I threw the device I was reading on multiple times because I could not bear to continue on.  It hurt me in ways I cannot begin to understand and I will not be the same again for a long time. I don’t know if a book has ever made me feel so much, or ever will again. At the end, I found myself unable to stop crying and get over it. I grieved over every loss as if I truly knew the character because the incredible writing made me feel like I did. I also had moments of pure joy where I could not stop smiling and laughing. I cannot begin to express my emotions and grief. I will mourn these characters forever. My only critique is that sometimes the changing perspectives confused me, but other than that it was perfect. I was shocked multiple times and could not begin to wrap my head around the surprises. If you are looking for your heart to be filled, then ripped out then I beg you to pick up this book and don’t stop reading till it’s over. I am overwhelmed with emotion and I know you will be too.

I’m glad I finished this book finally. I didn’t finish during my first read-through in middle school because someone at camp spoiled the ending for me and I lost interest. I really struggled with the first half of the book, it moved soooooo slow. It picked up around the end. I wasn’t a fan of the split perspective (why, after all the other books were just written from Tris’ perspective?!) and I don’t think the author developed Tobias’ voice enough. There were a lot of good quotes in here that I highlighted, and I liked the way that the characters describe and experience grief. It resonated with me as someone who has lost several family members close to me. I’d never read this again, but at least I finished it. I actually didn’t think the ending
with Tris dying
was that out-of-left field like I’ve seen many people say.

I actually think this broke me. There’s literally nothing else to say. This whole trilogy has been amazing and I’ve never loved a series more and now that it’s over I don’t really know what to do with myself. That’s really dramatic but it’s true. Every character is so carefully thought out and the plot is so layered but written so well that I was never confused and spent every moment just in awe of the world Veronica Roth created. I would recommend this to anyone, but bring tissues!
