An adorable fairy tale! Creative but written in the fashion of an original Grimm's Fairy Tale. Writing got a little annoying, but otherwise well done!

I read this first back in elementary school probably. I love fairytales and fantasy and all that. I still read this book every so often when I feel out of it or just because. It's become a one night read for me. I just sink into the comfy cushions of this story and cheer our heroine on as she fights for her own destiny.

Fun fairytale story along the lines of Shannon Hale and Jessica Day George's books. Alexandria is an orphaned Goose Girl who receives three gifts from an old witch whom she helps. Because of these gifts she is pursued by a King and a Prince who lock her in a tower until she decided who she will marry. Lots of adventures and surprises along the way.

The overall concept really wasn't my thing, plus there were a lot of inconsistencies and the language drove me bonkers. BUT, having chosen it at the request of my faithful kids book club members to read a fairy tale/kings and queens book, I think they'll love it and I think we'll have a good time talking about it.

It's written in a similar first person flounce as the Bloody Jack novels. I don't like it there and I don't like it here.

Very cute. Fairy tale language ('twas, certes, etc.) was a little annoying, though. I would have preferred a more Ella Enchanted style of writing. Actually, it reminded me a lot of Ella Enchanted, in a good way.

Really enjoyed it, was a nice fairy tale. quick read. When a poor goose girl is kind to a hag she is rewarded with beauty, magical hair that sheds gold dust and tears that crystallize into diamonds. This, of course, ends up causing her a great deal of trouble. With the help of the geese and her hair she escapes two or three life-threatening situations, restores order to the kingdom and falls in love.
