Isabel Allende is one of my favorite authors. Unfortunately, this one fell a little flat for me. I wasn't as invested in the characters' relationships as I was with her other books.

Never a better novel written
Ms. Allende has written a masterpiece. I'm a voracious reader and usually go from one book to the next. But with this novel, I stopped and savored the words like the art they are. My thoughts come back to it during my day to just enjoy the scenes, emotions and feel of the times she re created. Well done!
