Awesome! I love how the two women’s stories are woven together.

Problematic writing and just isn’t as I hoped.

Well written, if formulaic. As other reviewers have pointed out, it was as if Allende was trying to touch on every major socio-political issue in the past century, using carefully designed characters to make this happen. Personally it didn't bother me, but at the same time, there is nothing amazing here. Certainly not Allende's best work, but worth the read if you're a fan of hers. Solid 3 stars.
