I wanted to DNF this series. This audiobook was 16 hours long and I didn't think I was going to make it to the end. This is the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th books I've felt this on. Simply put, I didn't enjoy the series. I finished it to say I finished it, giving it a chance. The spice and HEA were a saving grace for me. I'm a sucker for smut and a HEA, but it was a rough road to get there.

American King by Sierra Simone takes the emotional rollercoaster to a whole new level, leaving me simultaneously loving and hating the characters. The mind-blowing secrets and revelations kept me on the edge of my seat. And the satisfying happily-ever-after for the love triangle brought a perfect end to this series.

I bawled reading this final book. The ending was a twist I just didn't see coming at all and it hit me like a freight train. 

I once again appreciated the vivid description and many allusions, but the most recognizable villain just didn't work for me and some characters reactions to their machinations seemed badly explained and executed. 

But for me the intense interior lives of the characters really makes up for it! Rarely do I enjoy really smutty because I get cant get into the plot but I've had a good month!
