Keys to the Kingdom definitely has the gore factor from the 1st book in the Locke & Key series. A sad death and a death that's well deserved happens in this addition.
Joe Hill really brought it all together in Keys to the Kingdom!

The plot twist at the end of this Vol. 4 was fantastic! I loved the Calvin and Hobbes feel in the beginning of the book with the artwork.
Well done Gabriel Rodriguez on getting the nostalgic feel of that epic comic series! I've really enjoyed this graphic novel series and can't wait to read the last two to find out what happens with the Locke kids. Dodge needs to be destroyed!!

This was my least favorite one of the series so far. It was too crammed with keys and information. I couldn't really appreciate all the keys. But besides that I loved this volume because it is such an amazing story. Why are there only 2 volumes left?

Zack (or Dodge – or however we’re supposed to refer to him) is one of the most frightening villains on the page (or even on-screen) as there were many points where I felt actual terror for the Lockes. But the real genius here is Hill’s ability to make the reader feel like we know all three of the kids, and even the secondary characters – all are incredibly well fleshed out. We feel what they feel.
How am I supposed to wait 'til summer for Volume 5?

This guy is one of the scariest antagonists I've ever encountered.
So far this was the weakest one, I thought. Still good, though.
I've arrived at the conclusion that I enjoy the Locke kids more when they're not together. That said, all of the characters get much-deserved development in this volume. I enjoy the yarn that Hill and Rodriguez are spinning. The world-building is still on-point, continually surprising me in fun, fresh ways (especially for something that uses Lovecraftian inspiration.)
I loved this whole volume from the sparrows in the first issue to the cliffhanger at the end. This series continues to get better and better and I cannot wait to read the last two volumes, everything is coming together and I am so excited! I really wish the Locke and Key TV series had come to fruition.
