I’m in a weird state of “wtf” and “I want to read it again”. The story didn’t feel as it dragged on and the mystery behind it all was intriguing to say the least.

i don't even care if the events that occurred in this book are unrealistic. it was so addicting to read and so satisfying in so many ways. every day i was excited to read it. you need to have a stomach of steel to read this though.

this series is extremely disturbing (with major trigger warnings), however i absolutely flew through it and could not put it down. i found myself loving lana and logan (and so many of the side characters too) so much, and am really satisfied with how the books finished.

I wanted to read this book because I have seen so many good things about it. Plus, it’s everything I love – Hot FBI agents, true-crime and romance and smut. This has dual POV. The first POV is Lana – a woman who has trained for too long to get what she wants, revenge for what happened to her ten years ago. She is now taking the men that hurt her one by one and painting the walls red. The second POV is Logan – an FBI agent who profiles serial killers for a living. He locks away the sick and depraved and he is brilliant now . . . until now. There is a one serial killer he can’t catch, and he is in love with her. There are 5 separate stories in this novel so I'm going to do individual reviews and then my overall review of the book at the end.

The Risk – 4 Stars

In this book, we start with Lana at a coffee shop trying to enjoy her food and her peace and quiet, when some man comes up to her and tries to impress her. Lana is an independent woman who doesn’t have time for a man as she’s trying to get on with her mission. The man doesn’t like that Lana rejected him and his friend tries to pay for Lana’s coffee as he found it funny. This is when Logan and Lana met, Logan gives Lana his phone number. Logan hopes his mysterious girl calls and Lana doesn’t know what to do. In this book, you learn about Lana and what her mission is, but you don’t know it inside out – which I liked because it kept you intrigued. Lana takes a chance on Logan and their relationship moves quickly, both of them fall instantly in love and they both become protective over each other. Logan doesn’t want Lana to get her due to his work, and Lana doesn’t want Logan to get hurt due to her work and if he finds out. The ending of this book leaves you completely wanting more.

I really enjoyed this book and really liked the meet-cute that happened. I don’t usually fall for insta-love tropes but this one worked. I love both Logan and Lana. Lana is so bad-ass, and I am completely in love with her and want to protect her. Logan is so sweet as well and I just love them together. This book managed to keep you in suspense, and you don’t really know what’s going on but it’s also action-packed. I don’t have anything to hate about this book, but it wasn’t my favourite book in the series.

Sidetracked – 4 Stars

In this book, we learn more about the Boogeyman killer, who is called out for Logan and Logan is worried that Lana is going to get hurt or killed by the killer. We learn more about Logan’s ex who is on the team with him, which makes Lana very jealous. Logan gets Lana a protective detail and get jealous when he sees who is loving after Lana. They both give each other reassurance that they are loyal to one another and they end the night with friendly and flirty banter. The Boogeyman goes after Logan’s team and nearly kills Logan’s ex which causes Lana to go to the hospital to check and Logan and a massive fight breaks out. Logan is trying to protect Lana and Lana knows she doesn’t need protective but can’t tell Logan why. Lana asks Jake to find out everything they can about the team Logan is in and we find out about one of his co-workers named Hadley and her past and Lana gets revenge.

I really enjoyed this book and seeing how Logan and Lana’s relationship grows. Logan was a bit of an ass in this book, but reading from both of their POVs, you see why Logan is an ass in this book. I love how Lana is protective of all of Logan’s team and instantly wants to protect Hadley and get revenge on her behalf. I also love that Lana’s secret is coming out in little slips like how Delaney Grove keeps getting mentioned. This book ends again on a massive cliffhanger that makes you want more and more. I don’t have anything to hate about this book except for Logan being an ass but it wasn’t my favourite book in the series.

Scarlet Angel – 5 Stars

In this book, the serial killer, Boogeyman finally goes after the most important thing to Logan – Lana, but the Boogeyman doesn’t know Lana’s secret and that she can handle herself. So the Boogeyman faces the Scarlet Slayer and it is a brutal fight. What Lana doesn’t know is that Hadley came to confront Lana about knowing her secret and saw the brutal fight so she knows everything. In this book, you get the additional point of view chapters with Hadley. During this book you learn more about what Lana went through to cause her to be the way she is now. She is also debating whether or not she wants to continue with her revenge. Logan also learns that the town is hiding something.

This book is bloody fantastic, the serial killer v serial killer in the first couple of chapters is AMAZING. I love the whole ass journey that Lana and Logan and Hadley go on and debating what is right and what is important to them. I think Hadley’s reaction to this genuine like how you would expect a normal person to react but then once she hears Lana’s story you see her question everything. This book is one of my favourites out of the series. Lana is also my new favourite girl crush and I want to marry her please.

All the Lies – 4 Stars

In this book, Logan is starting to put the pieces together, and right now he’s in the town where it went wrong for Lana and she is also there as well but she is still playing her game. Logan has never felt conflicted on any case until now, he doesn’t even know what side he is on. He doesn’t understand how this town can continue to function without breaking under all the lies they are living through. Every time Logan finds a bit more of the truth, his heart aches and his gut twists. As he learns more, he doesn’t know who to trust.

This book hurts my heart, I love this book but oh it has all the emotions. It has so much action and I wanted to throw this book across the damn wall. The ending of this book had me shook. If this book doesn’t end well, I swear to god I’m going to scream. This book managed to keep you in suspense, and you don’t really know what’s going on but it’s also action-packed. I don’t have anything to hate about this book, but it wasn’t my favourite book in the series.

Paint it All Red – 5 Stars

In this book, the endgame happens – Lana wants to finish her original plan and Logan needs to pick a side. Will Logan choose Lana or will he arrest her? Lana is ready to mess with the minds of the town that ruined her. She is ready to paint this town red. You get all the answers about Lana’s past and what happened to her at Delaney Grove. This book ends in a nice little bow and is action-packed

This book had me questioning everything and my sanity and I loved it. It was fantastic, it was action-packed it kept me intrigued and it was amazing. I loved how protective Jake was over Lana and how much he wanted to kill Logan because of his actions from the last book. I want more and more. I love Logan and Lana and Hadley and Jake. I was getting nervous when the endgame had finished and there were still several chapters but I loved it. I liked that you knew where Lana was, and that Logan paid attention to what Lana said in the first couple of books. This book is one of my favourites out of the series. Lana and Logan need to love each other forever and protect each other forever.

Overall, I feel like this book could be longer - I wanted it to be longer. I would have preferred Logan and Lana to meet and have a bit of banter before they decided they were madly in love with each other as I don’t really like insta-love trope, but again it worked in this book. I love Lana, I think she’s so badass and honestly, she can protect me at all costs. I love Logan and how his whole life changed since he met Lana and how he just started to question everything. I love that his team knew about Lana before he did as well and was rooting for her. I want more and more books like this.
