This one sat on my stack of library books for awhile and I wish I'd picked it up sooner. Encapsulating the changing and evolving emotions women experience around caregiving and motherhood, this book will prompt you to ask yourself what you would do or sacrifice if you found yourself in the shoes of either of the two main characters.

"If fate does exist, then there is also free will, and it consists of the way we take the cards life deals us."

very quick read. the writing felt super sharp and clear. was excited at first by the complexity of the different storylines but then kinda disappointed by the novel's simplistic resolution and embrace of a pretty apolitical 'one-size-fits-all' kind of feminism... I also wished the protagonist had a more complicated inner life, I wanted more murkiness!
