First, I have to recognize this was written to highschool aged teens, so I'm not it's demographic. This is about my experience, I'm sure this is someone's 5 star book and there are scenes here that could have changed my life if I read this when I was younger. That taken into consideration, the first part of this book felt to me like a watered down mix between a 90's teen romcom and The Inheritence Games, and that's not a compliment. Middle of this book is more interesting, showing characters  discovering themselves and exploring both gender and orientation. The end of the book
just decides to reprise the musical The Prom.
And that's not a good thing.

ok so I actually really loved this??

while I found Chloe annoying at first, I've really grown attached to all those little gay characters.
this should kinda be mandatory reading for queer high schoolers who feel let down by the world

um also Smith's gender exploration got me gasping and giggling and kicking my feet fr

Its giving big Cady/Regina vibes, but honestly
watching Smith and Rory being okay with loving each other
was by far the best part

Nothing warms my heart like a cute queer romance!

Chloe Green is on track to win valedictorian, only one thing stands in her way: her arch-nemesis, prom Queen Shara Wheeler.

But then, one month out from graduation, Shara has the audacity to kiss Chloe and then... vanish. Into thin air.

What should be the final month of hustling before graduation turns into a wild goose chase as Chloe furiously searches for answers to this frankly confounding mystery.

I enjoyed the heck out of this. Largely due to the Bi-representation, but mostly just because of the incredibly sweet and heart-warming moments and friendships shared between the other characters.

The gentle exploration of gender identity and healthy masculinity was so wholesome, I hope that young queer people read this book and feel seen and safe.

Overall though, I didn't looooove the plot. It felt a little underdeveloped and the characters really carried the story imo.

That was sort of ok as the characters were very loveable, but after the highs of Red, White & Royal Blue and One Last Stop, I felt quite disappointed.

Still a fun read though and considering how starved for quality queer content I am, I'll take it!

Everyone is annoying, especially the main character and the main love interest. The mains get little to no repercussions for their bad actions. Moments where the author could develop more conflict or make the character learn are solved by plot o¿convenience (I am looking at you, ebtire second graduation plot line). Characters got into this long winded monologues that last for paragraphs and say nothing of importance. The author was trying to write something more serious (the religion trauma), but it comes across as her usual low-stakes scenario like in her previous and honestly better nooks.

Did I mention how the characters are very annoying? And the reading drags too much, honestly could've been shorter. I was rolling my eyes every time I had to hear the main character's inner monologue. What a self-centered, selfish and holier-than-thou annoying girl. Even the ending where we are supposed to believe she learned and grew is very hard to believe.

Please read the other books from the author, skip this one.
