Somehow simultaneously decently-written yet bland. The POV voices are hard to differentiate, and what personality there is comes across as entirely cookie-cutter. Some of the character's motivations never come across as particularly urgent despite the situation, and the POVs can be strangely slapstick at times. Plot plodded, and a lot of chemistry was completely forced and/or ridiculous with absolutely zero tension.

The Isles of The Gods is a YA fantasy novel with an interesting world that the readers explore through multiple POVs. However, for the length and gravity of the universe that the book needed to present, the jumping from one character's POV to another's didn't help. It probably needed more pages so that the story was properly paced, as, for me at least, felt rushed and that the world built was brushed off.
Still, the story was intriguing and there was a lot to explore when it came to the gods, the gangs, the royalty system, that school that the heroes went to, and the sailing of the seas.
If only the romance wasn't that instant and was left to have a proper development in the next novel...
