This book started off so slow I almost DNF it. It wasn’t until around pg 250 when it picked up. The second half of the book really saved the book as a whole for me. It also really set it up nice for book 2. Left off with so many lose ends. Will definitely be reading book two.

It had a slow start, but once it picked up I was hooked!! I love Leander and Selly’s chemistry, and anxious to see how it further develops. Not looking forward to waiting for the sequel though

I love the banter in Amie Kaufman’s books and this was no exception! I’m currently obsessed with sea-voyage books and this was a great, quick read. The ending was kinda predictable but I enjoyed that there were POVs from both sides of the cat and mouse chase.

DNF at 62%

Too many POVS, plot was lacking, romance was lacking, overall very mediocre

I’m upset because I was really hoping I’d enjoy this.

Reread before reading the sequel. I adore Keagan. Leander is such a softhearted diva and Selly is an icon. Read this series.

MY LOVE FOR KEAGAN WILL NEVER BE SURPASSED.

Okay, this book was a lot. Like, a very fast paced fantasy with magic and wizards and princes and assassins and gods.

It totally feels like it should just be a mashup of tropes and I can say that the only tropes that add up are a couple of the pirate storylines but with enough decoration and razzledazzle from the rest of the plot, I barely noticed.

Also, I beg of the author to keep Keagan Ace because I have already claimed him as such. The true hero of the book, always willing to sacrifice himself while still going "arg, if I must". And nothing but a reluctant martyr could any better.

Chefs kiss.

Lots of Divine Rivals vibes and not in a bad way. There's an interesting mixture of fantasy and modern elements. Magic but guns, cars, sailing ships, etc.

Interested to see what comes in the sequel(s?).
