Wolves of the Calla

This was one of my favorites in the series. I enjoyed the relationships that developed between the Ka-tet and the people of the Calla, and especially liked the addition of Father Callahan to the story. Found this to be one of the faster moving stories of the series, a good follow up to Wizard and Glass

OOPS forgot to update this. I believe this was the first TDT book he wrote after quite a few years. It contributes more to the world building than overall plot? I still thoroughly enjoyed it, probably my favorite of TDT series so far.

A cracking read with all that makes a good western in line with the Magnificent Seven. But as usual the author weaves the storyline with his magic and linking the Dark Tower in to the feed.
The pace has picked up with the last three books completed in some forms. The meandering has gone and we are now fully back on the literal beam towards the Tower....

"Mister, we deal in lead."

This book is a perfect example of the Stephen King novels that aren't my favorite. Intriguing premise, fantastic writing, thrilling conclusion. And yet, I was bored for about 75% of the book because not really that much was going on. Yes, the rising "action" leads to a more satisfying finish, but 500 pages of rising action gets old.

Plus, this book felt like an unnecessary (but interesting) detour from the main plot of the series.

5 books down, 2 to go.

This book is a mixed bag for me. Some parts I loved, some didn't do much for me. Thankfully I find the overall story fascinating.

Very fast paced and glad to see more of the world-building and introduction of new characters. Wizard and Glass was a whole trip, but Wolves of the Calla felt like The Magnificent Seven, just as Stephen King himself described.

The actual revelations left something to be desired but I see where the deceptions are going. Without getting into spoilers, I can see everything is leading up to a final battle. Good read!
