Amazing art. Solid story. Dark mystery bordering on psychological horror at points. Dope af.

The dark and gritty story of the court of owls by Scott Snyder was captured perfectly with Greg Capullo's illustration. Enjoyed it thoroughly.

"Beware the Court of Owls, that watches all the time..."
Okay it won't let me give .5s but 4.5!
I've always heard about this story arc but recent events (no spoilers) encouraged me to give it a read. What I really love about the story is that for the most part, it's not even really about Bruce OR Batman. It's about Gotham City - what the city is like, the foundation of the city, what the people are like. Stories that characterize Gotham as its own part of the story are really special to me because without Gotham, there is no Batman.
The Court of Owls themselves is a terrifying concept, although I will say that even though some of the art dips into body horror and the grotesque, the most terrifying thought is the idea they're living in everyone's houses, in a secret passage or a basement or whatever. I can also appreciate the horror elements as a nod to Morrison's Batman runs - who doesn't love Batman with a bit of horror?

I gave up on Batwoman. I read 4 out of the 5 volumes, and just couldn't do it with volume 5. But I had already checked out this series, along with Wonder Woman, and I figured I would give Batman a shot, and if it didn't work, I might just give up on DC comics in general.
I was not disappointed in the least. This batman is strong, and snarky. There are so many holes that I experienced in Batgirl that get filled with this series, and it's keeping me riveted.
Not to mention? Bruce Wayne is haaaaaaaaaaaawt. Lovely eye candy.
Very excited to continue.
