Way better, actually vampires. I guess we're just ignoring the events of Memnoch though

I can't even finish. What is this book? So strange. Nothing more I can say that already hasn't been said.

I really enjoyed this book! Despite being a little slow for the first half, I don't understand the negative reviews for this book at all, it was a really good entry into this fantastic series!

Reseña completa en mi blog:
http://drdeadwish.blogspot.com.ar/2015/04/el-principe-lestat-anne-rice.html

While reading, I was constantly switching in my head between 3 and 4 stars and I genuinely wish I could give it 3 and a half because of this. I have very mixed feelings about this book. On hand, if I look at the writing style, it has a bit of the beauty that enchanted me in the first book, it felt more solid, more poetic and less so trying to appeal very aggressively to pop culture. I also cherished the last chapter from Louis’ point of view, Louis has since the beginning been my favorite and I missed his melancholic and romantic world view dearly, so this was definitely a treat. Now to the things that bothered me about the novel, I felt like there way too many new characters suddenly introduced and despite some of those having interesting twists such as Gremt or Teshkamen, I felt like it was quite out of nowhere and too many in number. Anne Rice keeps mentioning the names of all these characters constantly as if it is a checklist… they do not all always have to present and mentioned in my opinion. I was frustrated how the whole Quinn and Mona plotline from the last two books was completely dropped here as if it had never even happened. I didn’t even truly like either of them as characters but it felt wrong to just not mention ever again what became of them? I felt like since in the last novel they were planning to go to Maharets compound, one could assume it was hinted that they perished in the burnings, but they did drink from Lestat’s “oh so all mighty” blood, so does it even make sense that the burning would have killed them? I guess perhaps. And lastly, I felt as if the Rhoshamandes plot line was a bit sloppily written, I sympathized a lot with him but I felt like him falling prey to Amel’s manipulation wasn’t gradual enough… either I missed some pages or I don’t know what, but one chapter he isn’t agreeing with Amel at all, the other he’s suddenly in the Amazon murdering Maharet and Khayman? It was a bit out of the blue and as much as I love a good plotwist, this one didn’t feel so good, it was a tad to random for me.

One more positive note from me: I really liked that Rice dared to be a bit more brutal in her descriptions in this book! I felt like this was definitely the most violent/gorey novel in the series thus far. Can’t believe I’m actually about to finish this series soon wow.
