Is a book still in the genre of amateur sleuth/cozy if the main character has become a police officer? Is it now a mystery set in Ireland?
Whatever you want to call the it, this is a good book. It has intriguing characters, a great setting and an enticing mystery to draw the reader in.
Siobhan has taken her life into her own hands and forged her own path and become a garda, police officer in Ireland, as well as running the family bistro. It's meant moving on from the man she loves but he seems to have moved on as well. Siobhan's family makes me laugh. They are varied in personalities and they all love each other. I want to start at the beginning of this series and learn more about them.
The mystery is interwoven and really good. It begins from the first page and the book is off and running. It has a study of family history going on as much as the investigation. Kind of makes me want to go digging around in my family tree to see what shows up.
I can definitely recommend this book, author and series.

Another good one in the series. A little more predictable than the others, but still a fun read!

Another great read!! I really enjoyed this story and loved seeing Siobhán in her very first official case as a garda. I can't wait to continue this series and see what these characters are up to next. On to book 4!

Not my favorite of the Irish Village Mystery, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. I picked this read out as a comfort read, needing some escape from the darkness spreading across the world. I really enjoy this series, especially because I read it as an audiobook, and the narrator has an Irish accent. Ireland is certainly a place of comfort to me.

I guess I didn't love this one as I did the others because there wasn't enough of the family in it. I'm used to seeing them a lot more. It also felt short. Maybe the Americans didn't help it either, I'm trying to escape America, not hear more of it!

However, the story was interesting and one that many Irish Americans can relate to. The murder victim (an Irish American), visited Ireland with his family to "right a great wrong." Now, I won't give the spoilers away, but it was very interesting. Lots of family drama.

I will certainly read the next, I just hope it's more settled in Ireland and has Siobhan's family and the townspeople involved.

All the books in this series have such similar plots, but I’m finding that fact soothing. Like if Maeve Binchy met Joanne Fluke and had a baby.
