i’m at a loss for words. this book was so heart-breaking, funny & sweet at times. both characters were fleshed out, and had their own struggles. it was an extremely slow “burn”, but it worked well. the cliffhanger had me screaming & im anxious to pick up the next book. i couldn’t stop thinking about this book when i wasn’t reading it. i do recommend that trigger warnings are checked.

This book was a pleasant surprise. The atpry focuses on a budding relationship between Shannon, a timid 16 year old who has been bullied her whole life, and Johnny, the towns rising rugby star who is keeping a secret that might cost him everything.

The writing allows for fairly fast paced reading.  It integrates irish culture and the typical language used by teenagers.

I must say, I felt the age of the character  didn't quite mesh with the language and subject matter, but that might just be me preferring to read stories of older characters.

There were many cringe moments but also many moments of character growth. I enjoyed the friendships and the differing family dynamics.
