I'm two chapters in and I can already see how half-baked and on the nose this is going to be. Might've powered on if the writing was better but...

stayed up late finishing the last half. gorgeous cover, i’m just realizing now what it represents lol. i enjoyed the author’s memoir and was surprised to see that she had a novel out recently.
dark and dystopian af. i didn’t really
know what it meant to be a climate refugee before. bleak look into what our cities could look like when it becomes inhabitable. the rich living in their own space shuttle is reminiscent of the recent blue origin fiasco. white feminism at it again. my first climate fiction novel, damn it’s too real 😔😔
wasn’t the most amazing-est book i’ve read but it was a nice fast moving escape of a story. multiple character POVs were fun

Have you ever had too many ideas and didn't know where to start? Concepts out the wazoo but struggled to delve into the minutiae? Well then, this is the book for you!
A skewed version of feminism and unbridled power lead to this dystopian cli-fy based in what was once New York. I really enjoyed the concepts this book brought about. Often times they were heavy handed but if you tried hard enough you could see multiple sides of the same idea. I wish Korn had narrowed down her focus a bit and constrained the setting to a smaller time frame to allow for more world building and character development. Overall it was a good read but it could have been great.

At the end it was kind of giving baby Emily st john mandel w how the ppl were coming together but I enjoyed myself. Love dystopian books even tho they make me anxious. Would rather die or become a climate migrant than be forced to carry a baby!

This was a fun book that delved deeply into themes of feminism and power. There was times when the prose was clunky and the arguments laid out plainly instead of allowing the audience to come to these conclusions on their own, particularly the discussions on gender. I personally wanted the story to go in a different direction, to get even darker, but I do think there's a still deep impact when you realize something really fucked is happening without the use of violence. Very enjoyable especially if you want a quick, feminist read that more than scratches the surface
Overall, think this would be a great book for high school or college class discussion. Easy, engaging read with easy to digest messaging on the surface but more to it the deeper you dig.

So yeah, it's wish fulfillment/a morality play, but I still really enjoyed this one. Works for me.
