This one really kicked it up a notch, and I really enjoyed myself with this one. I loved the conclusion too!
Can't really remember what happened specifically in this volume now as I read it on holiday along with the remaining volumes. So, an overall review of the series - all in all a brilliant piece of work, very imaginative and clever with brilliant twists and turns (although did start to get repetitive towards the end). I wasn't at all taken with Near and Mello - much preferred the original "L" character. Good ending, although didn't expect Light to produce the reaction that he did (he was always so composed...)! Very well done indeed.
Comments on the whole series: The first half is definitely the strongest. My husband's opinion is that it should have ended there, rather than continuing on with the Near and Mello storyline. I think that I agree. It's an ending that would have irritated me to no end, but at least I wouldn't have had to read so many volumes to get to the actual ending. The later volumes had way too much exposition, and nowhere near enough action. There's only so many times that I can handle Near explaining the same plot points to me over and over again before I want to scream. It was like the mangaka suddenly decided that the readership was completely stupid. More likely, he was just trying to work through things himself? Either way, I didn't really enjoy the last several volumes, and although the last volume had some moments that made me happy, it wasn't enough to compensate for the time spent getting there.

This series started out enjoyable but became a slog towards the end. I only finished it because it doesn't take long to read a volume, and part of me did still want to know how things ended without just reading a summary. I lost a lot of interest about halfway through the series.

The "plot twists" became more and more forced and convoluted as time went on. I didn't care about 80% of the characters involved, and certainly cared even less about their constant inner monologues. The only redemption for the series in my eyes was howLight's downfall was handled. Being caught after years of acting as Kira turned him into a desperate, pathetic crybaby which was satisfying to see. I never really hated Light – not because I agree with him, but because he was kind of a lame villain. So in the end, his downfall and death (via Ryuk's hand, hell yeah!) didn't affect me that much, but it was still entertaining enough.

conclusione giusta anche se tutto il manga non mi è piaciuto a pieno, dopo il settimo volume e calato molto e light devo dire che non mi è mai piaciuto quindi leggere i volumi praticamente incentrati su di lui non mi ha fatto impazzire

Cuando terminé el tomo 11 anoche supe que no iba a poder dejar este para hoy. Este tomo es MUY pero que muy denso y pese a estar leyéndolo a las doce y pico de la noche no se me hizo pesado. Solo quieres llegar al enfrentamiento final y cuando llegas no puedes dejar de leer aunque la mayoría de cosas que salen por la boca de Near o Light parezca que no tienen sentido.
Lo que más me ha gustado es como consigues meterme en la piel de Ryuk. Durante todos los tomos (al menos en mi caso) te sientes atraída y con curiosidad por saber cómo actúa Light, quieres ver sus movimientos, quieres ver cómo sigue mintiendo e intentando crear ese nuevo mundo. Incluso lo llegas a admirar. Hasta que Near le hace la encerrona y empieza a berrear como un niño pequeño. Entonces te da vergüenza ajena su actitud, te alegras de que Matsuda le dispare, quieres que le mate, que se calle ya el niñato de mierda con aires de grandeza. Todo tras un cambio de actitud de un panel a otro, después de 11 tomos admirándole. Es maravilloso como lo han hecho Ohba y Obata. Una obra de arte.
Otra cosa que también me gustó fue que Light en ningún momento se arrepiente, no le hacen bueno cuando muere. Light siempre ha sido un niño bien y nunca ha perdido los estribos, es sólo cuando es 100% Kira cuando se enfurece, sonríe de verdad o dice palabrotas, por eso, cuando muere su última palabra es "Joder" (a falta de comprobar el diálogo original), por lo que para mí muere siendo Kira, porque él de verdad era así, nunca se arrepentirá y eso es lo que hace que sea un personaje tan bueno, tan redondo. Está tan bien escrito que me da asco y lo quiero abrazar a la vez. En fin...
Como reseña final y conjunta: la serie es una pasada, da igual que te hayas visto el anime o no, es una pasada, en ambos formatos. Tiene mucho texto, pero palos con gusto no duelen, yo, al menos, no he tenido ningún momento en el que me diera pereza leerlo y eso que empecé no por ganas de leerla, sino porque fue mi motivación para empezar el año terminando libros y sagas pendientes. Pese a ser densa se hace amena, aunque estoy segura de que si hubiera sido un libro lo hubiera dejado a medias, Death Note funciona porque es un manga.
Otra cosa que me llamó mucho la atención de la saga fue que durante todas las batallas entre Light y sus oponentes, pero sobre todo con Near, al final, es que ambos parecen que se leen la mente. Seguramente si hubiera sido una película o un libro sería absurdo que los dos rivales siempre supiera lo que está pensando el otro (como si fueran Kujo Jotaro) pero aquí funciona. Aquí te saca una sonrisa que Light diga "sabía que esto es lo que Near iba a hacer" y que Near le diga directamente "vas a hacer esto". Es la gracia de Death Note, de ver cómo dos tíos que son los más listos del mundo se pelean como si fueran dos niños pequeños. Funciona y es creíble y por eso me gusta (y es a lo que aspiro a llegar como escritora).
En fin, que siempre llevo estas reseñas a mi síndrome de impostor. Me ha gustado mucho, como diría la Estrella de 2013, Sí, soy team Kira. (Aunque con esta relectura me he dado cuenta de que todos los personajes son geniales y que la MVP es Misa)
