I didn't enjoy this as much as the first one, but I still sped through it and I enjoyed being back in the world! I did think it lost something especially in the main characters' relationship - the dialogue felt unlike them and it was all a bit forced. It felt a bit crowded as well, but I did especially enjoy the end action sequence!

What was this book? I feel like I was hit by a high speed dragon after finishing it.

I love this world and I love these characters. All of them. Even the villains... they are perfect, cruel, merciless...

The only reason this read isn't 5 stars is because the book has a lot of unnecessary stuff. The beginning is slow (but it was the same with 'Fourth Wing') but then the story gains the right momentum. I feel this book is unnecessary long: if they just talked - they share a mental bond, GOD, just mentally talk or whatever - many of the problems would be solved; and I think that are a lot of little details that were left without explanation.

But I don't want to judge too much, maybe all the explanations are in the next book! Yes, because after this ending I expect perfection for the third book. Everything MUST be ok.

While I devoured Fouth Wing - iron flame took me longer. Since it’s a book that “preparing for a battle” it gets looooong and boring at times. And then it has these amazing scenes , quotes, or things happening that keeps you wanting more!!!!!
“My house, my chair, my woman!” Like OMG !!!!
But the ending though has me desperate for Jan ‘25.
Gave it a 4 since I had to push myself through most of it to finish -
Also , what the heck! She’s like Shonda Rhymes. Trying to kill people left and right, making my heart jump, my eyes tear up, my hand over my mouth, my heart raising at times to make sure who’s alive and who’s not!

Enjoyable ride overall, even if it did drag a tiny bit. It definitely feels more unique as a story to the first book.
