I found the book a bit boring from the start. I don’t think the presentation of events in the story was engaging. If anything, all of the time jumps made it confusing and increased my apathy towards the characters simply because I couldn’t remember why I was supposed to care about them. The feminist take wasn’t invigorating or heartwarming, and it felt very dated and outmoded even when there were “self aware” bits of narration about white, cis feminism.

This was a brilliant read. It really captured the feelings of growing up as a young woman with passion she doesn’t know what to do with. Great characters and amazing storylines.

It felt like there was no real plot to this book, like things happen but it was just wherever the author felt like taking it. Granted, I went into this book having read some negative reviews (to kind of know what I was getting myself into). I didn’t feel like any of the characters were well-rounded, likable people. The whole book felt like a very long-winded way to get in a couple rants about feminism that weren’t usually further discussed/developed. I didn’t find this book awful to get through, but I wouldn’t really suggest it to someone.
