I thought that “Broken” was an agonizingly angsty, second chance romance!!! Lowell and Selene’s love story was very intense, and they certainly go through hell and back by the time their story ends. I thought Lowell was very swoony, and I applaud him for immediately stepping up once he realized that he had a daughter. Selene was a little bit harder to read at times, but overall I think her heart was in the right place. I’d definitely recommend!

New to me author

From monsters after dark fb group… new to me author all about the werewolf!

I really enjoyed this story, a missing word or letter here and there but the characters kept me entertained.

That scene with the grey sweatpants aye !

Spicy Were novel

4.5 stars ⭐️ This was my first book by Trish Heinrich and it was pretty darn good. I haven’t read a ton of Were books not to be confused with werewolf shifter books that I love to read. The premise of the book was pretty good, although I would have love to have seen more of a backstory between Lowell and Selene and even the clan feud between the MacDonalds and the Campbells. The spice was really good although I also would have love to have seen those scenes extended out a bit more.

All in all a pretty good read. I highly recommend if you’re looking for something short and spicy.

Awwww

I always get a little anxious when a preteen child is thrown into the mix of a relationship, but Heinrich did a great job having her be important to the story without her carrying the weight of her parents’ relationship. She didn’t say something super wise that no 10 year old would say in real life.
Second chance romances also make me a bit anxious, but this one had some serious Romeo and Juliet vibes, just minus the shallowness and stupidity. They each had complex backgrounds with people they loved that were also imperfect and sometimes made terrible decisions (looking at you Angus). So much chemistry and a healthy dose of reality, mixed with high stakes issues, made for a great book.

Spice: 5/5

Triggers: near death experiences, living with chronic illness, emotional abuse (off page), child neglect (off page), teen pregnancy, violence, gore

“Over the years, she had become a legend in my mind, her love a mirage that I may yearn for sometimes, but it hadn’t been real. It couldn’t be because then I’d have to admit that I’d let the best thing in my life go without enough of a fight.”

I LOVE me a second chance romance. Like A LOT. There’s so much angst and history between the characters, it’s one of my favorite tropes. Then Trish Heinrich goes and adds in sexy Scottish werewolves, clan history/battles, a surprise baby, buckets of angst and romantic confessions AND laugh out loud funny moments? This has been my favorite of her monsters series yet. I loved every second of it.

Lowell was sooooo swoony and I loved how tough Selene was. Izzy was such a fun little kid and I loved how she was a combination of Lowell & Selene, I could really tell how she was their child. The story line didn’t drag at all for me, there was constantly something happening that kept my attention spot on. The smut was HOT too. Trish definitely knows how to write sex scenes.

I won’t spoil the plot in this review but damn this was really good. And we get out HEA :) I cannot WAIT for the next book but I won’t reveal who it is, that’s part of the fun for now.

Thank you, Trish for the ARC! This was just an amazing story. Like I said: my favorite yet. But I do know there are orcs coming so we shall see…
