Injustice 2, Vol. 3 by Tom Taylor

I'll hand it to the writers, they seem to have hit the right balance of out-of-character grim and bittersweet reminders of the heroes in better days. And Batman is still Batman, for all we see little of him in this entry of the series. Really didn't love the art in this volume, but I did enjoy the storylines involving Kara and Wonder Woman, Barry Allen and Mitchell Davies, Harley and Poison Ivy.

Why can't we do half-star ratings? :(

Anyways, 3.5 stars. While the first half of this volume moved the story along nicely, the next half was a rehash of Wonder Woman's origin (told a bit differently, but mostly the same) along with a one-shot involving Harley's Horde.
SpoilerWhich left me with clinical depression at the end, I'm not gonna lie. I was attached to those fools. :(

Annnnnd I loved this for showcasing Selina and Bruce's relationship--I never tire of seeing Cat be the supportive backbone of the Batfam. Alfred adores her, too. <3

So not a bad volume at all! It just hardly did anything to progress the story...but it laid some foundational knowledge for Diana, if you're curious about why she is the way that she is for Injustice.

I’ve read a few comics lately that were just a slog. Taylor’s writing just *flows*, seemingly effortlessly. I finished the first chapter and went, “Wait, was that a whole issue?” Turns out it was. I had that same feeling throughout.

The only reason this gets 4 stars instead of 5 is because it’s a collection of “how did we get here?” stories, featuring the backstories of the characters. The longest bit is the retelling of Wonder Woman’s origin, which is slightly different from the main continuity. It goes a long way toward explaining why she’s such a hardass in this universe, though.

Definitely worth the time, regardless.

Finally the story picks up pace. We get to see some interesting characters as well as some nice team-ups.
