While I did not enjoy this, as it was largely distressing for me personally. The authors way of distinctly distinguishing each character was incredible. They each had a unique tone and personality, that I did in fact appreciate. With that being said I wasn’t fulfilled enough by the resolution to have endured the darkness and emotional topics. I may or may not read by this author again. Likely not.

Pretty decent quick read, I liked it more than I expected given the concept. I think pushing it a little further would have made the book.  Also Women ❤️‍🔥
I know it maybe would have been regressive but if they killed Will together as a group bonding activity I would probably have given it 5 stars haha

I picked up this book on an impulse, not knowing what it was really about other than a vague concept (grown up fairy tale women in group therapy), and I was so pleasantly surprised by the story. The way this story unfolds before the readers eyes is exceptionally compelling and so well done. I adored the commentary on how people view and treat women in this world, and I loved the way that this book incorporated the very literal plots from these fairy tales and applied it to otherwise very grounded characters. This book grapples with the fragility of being a woman while showcasing the power of sisterhood and solidarity. Overall, I really this book, and I would recommend it to any and everyone.

The premise of this book is what would happen if the women from fairy tales (princesses and damsels in distress) were contemporary and went to group therapy together. I loved the story-telling within the books on the part of the characters, and I loved how darkly funny it was. However, I didn’t find the ending very satisfying and I wonder why one character had such a large part in all their stories?

Also - worth mentioning - the language used to describe a character with disability is outdated at best, appallingly rough at worst. I don’t know if this was a “character’s POV” description or what the author/editor/publisher thought was an appropriate way to describe that character’s body, but it’s *the* reason I don’t plan to recommend this book to others.

This book has some cleverness to it but almost too clever. Some of the chapters dragged on a little too long and there was SO much trauma. Which is a good read of some these fairy tale women but some it seemed overwraught. The author definitely had a POV and it became heavyhanded. Overall I enjoyed the writing style and would read other books by this author.
