There are some authors I will give up sleep for, and Kim Loraine is one. No matter the romance sub-genre, she captivates me and keeps me enthralled. While I love her paranormal, I tend to drift towards the contemporary and this cowboy series could not get any better. The Rykers are incredible. This one features the second brother, Buck. He is approached to have a budding romance on their new reality tv show, but has no interest in being the center of attention. He decides to get himself a fake fiance to take the heat off, but another kind of heat is beginning to build. Penny has always been attracted to Buck. Hurt as a teenager, she isn't sure this idea of his will work, but she needs the money. Will these two be able to fool the cameras? Sexy, flirty, funny, this book has it all. Buck is impossible not to fall for. Swoony, thoughtful and good looking, it's too hard not to love him. Penny is feisty and determined, yet her heart is saying something else. I loved it! The history, the show, the couple, the family interaction, the friends they make, and the way Buck says Sugar. And then we get cousin Travis, the hot fire fighter that I just have to wonder if we will get more for him later (do I sense a spinoff for a Golden Beach revival?)! I love this family, and can't wait for Tristan!

Kim Loraine knows how to cast her characters and this team is phenomenal. Aaron Shedlock brings out that Texas twang, and pulls us in with his seductive drawl. Every time he says Sugar, I was melting! He finds all the facets of Buck and lets us see the heart of this cowboy. Newcomer Stella Hunter is fast moving up on my radar. I am loving her performances. She is fantastic as she delves into the personality of her characters and nails each nuance. Loved this narration!

I really enjoyed this one. Would have loved to see some more scenes between Buck and Penny and how their relationship grew.

Loved this!

I love when an author takes a trope that we all know and makes it her own! Kim Loraine has a talent for this, she took the fake relationship between Buck and Penny and gave us what we wanted, no what we needed.

We are back at the Ryker Ranch but this time we get to know Buck Ryker, a real rancher/cowboy with a hard alpha shell, until Penny comes along and cracks it to show us the vulnerability that Buck doesn’t want anyone to see.

This is a sweet romance with just enough sizzle. It will bring you back to Montana and you won’t want to leave! And thankfully you won’t have to yet as there is at least one more Ryker Ranch story on the way. This was a wonderful addition to this series and you don’t want to miss out on it!

*clears throat* buck ryker… 🤠🤠yeehaw cowboy i enjoyed this book very much. i don’t know why but i liked buck and penny a lot more than clint and ever.

i think the trope (fake fiance) was done well and wasn’t rushed. i liked that this book was longer than the first which gave it a bit more time to flesh out the story. it would’ve been interesting if the book was dual timelines (10 years ago and present day) but all in all, i really liked this one!

Posted as the new Romeo for the reality show that has taken over his family's ranch, Buck has decided tho throw a wrench in their plans by stating he is engaged. Without a fiance Buck is left scrambling to find one. When a blast from his past crosses his path, Penny becomes the Fake fiance. But will feeling become more than just lies when the two find themselves together? Or wil the hurt from the past come back and bite Buck in the chaps? I loved the enemies to lovers storyline surrounded by a great family that puts a smile on the readers face as they read. I think cowboys have become the new sex symbols.

When life kicks you in the teeth, or puts cows in your path, sometimes you have to take a leap of faith. I am not usually a fan of a fake relationship, but really loved how Buck and Penny were faking it for the reality show cameras, but no one else. Their story was salty and sweet, and a real treat narrated by Stella Hunter and Aaron Shedlock. They were so sweet falling in love and I just loved so many moments of this story.

When the reality show producers suggest adding an element of romance to the show and want Buck to be their handsome cowboy, you find a way out of that real fast. He told them he was engaged. The problem: that was a lie. In walks Penny, who needs Buck as much as he needs her. These two have a history, but both will do what they can to make it look real for the cameras so they both win. Seems easy enough, until real feelings get involved.

Buck was so darn sweet and protective of Penny. Their journey to their HEA was filled with sweet and simple steps that make you love them so much as a couple. The book reading scene was priceless! The bump in the road was just right. I loved how Mama sticks her nose into everyone’s business and keeps everyone in line. This is a series I know I’m going to enjoy deep diving and binging the whole thing!

What a lovely story! From first kisses as kids to forever as adults!

It started as an agreement to be in a fake relationship but it changed for both of them really fast but he got super scared and didn’t know how to work through his feelings.

I loved how he did at the end though. Very poetic and beautiful. I loved the touch of Mama Ryker putting her stamp on Penny’s jackass boss argyle fancy hotel too!

This gem was narrated in duet by Stella Hunter and Aaron Shedlock! Loved!
